Description

CAMEL has vivid memories of coming to Japan with a complete reproduction of “MOONMADNESS”. Their latest original recording is now available. This work was recorded at “September 10, 2018 Aylesbury Performance”. This is a masterpiece audience recording. This show is one act of the UK tour set as the final stage of “MOONMADNESS TOUR 2018”. First, let’s check the show’s position in the overall tour picture, including that wonderful performance in Japan. ・May 16th-20th: Japan (4 performances) ・May 22nd-27th: Middle East (5 performances) ・May 30th-June 9th: Europe #1 (8 performances) ・July 14th Sunday: Sankt Goarshausen performance August 29th – September 4th: Europe #2 (5 performances) September 7th – 17th: UK (9 performances) This is the total of 32 performances scheduled for 2018. Performance. All performances have already been completed, and no new dates have been announced. The Japan performance was also the kickoff location of the world tour, but the Aylesbury performance of this work is the final stage of the opposite. This was the fourth concert of the “UK” tour. This work that recorded such a show is a truly wonderful audience recording. This is an original master made only for this work by a master who is known as the “British master” at our store. He is a person who balances the atmosphere of DAT recording with modern clarity, and this work is a beautiful world of sound that is a sample of that. Recorded from the front seat near the stage, the high notes of the synth are straight and clean, and the midrange is rich and plump. The heavy bass, which tends to be a weak point in guest records, is also very responsive, and the melodic Colin Bass line is clearly drawn. On top of that, the realistic feel of the scene is unbearable. CAMEL’s fantasy world is better suited for audience recording than a rugged soundboard, and this work is a typical example of that. The acoustics of the venue were truly beautiful, rising like an aura from the solid core, and rather than being brilliant, they were wonderful and fantastic. Indescribably, it is a sound world that matches “MOONMADNESS”. The latest “MOONMADNESS TOUR 2018” drawn with that sound is exquisite. The show consists of two parts like the Japanese performance, the first part is a reproduction of the masterpiece “MOONMADNESS”, and the second part is the best classics. Unfortunately, the two new songs “Dingley” and “Mystic Dreams” that became a hot topic during the Japan performance were dropped (it seems they were played as far as the Middle East right after Japan), but instead, the set included “End Of The Line”. This is a number from “DUST AND DREAMS”, which was their comeback work in the 90s, and the guitar that goes back and forth between pentatonic and major is a hidden gem that is very typical of CAMEL. It is a delicious song that has been revived for the first time in 26 years since then. And the band that plays such a set is doing really well. Andrew Latimer, who once fell ill during the tour, has already recovered and is able to perform well in ensembles, perhaps thanks to touring Japan, the Middle East, and Central Europe. On top of that, the warm mood of returning to his homeland is really nice. Aylesbury, where the shooting took place, is close to their home base of Guildford and is like their hometown. At the start of the show, famous local director/promoter David Stops gave a speech, casually talking about the history of progressive rock and proudly calling out CAMEL’s name. The scene where “MOONMADNESS” starts from there is full of the mood that you would expect from a traditional band. Of course, the reaction from the audience who have supported the band for many years was amazing, and even though it was the latest recording, there was a mellow, vintage-like atmosphere. Kilminster was also seen there). You can witness the reenactment of a masterpiece that can be enjoyed in the UK, which is nowhere else in the world. The Japan performance at the beginning of the tour was wonderful, but from there on, the performance of “MOONMADNESS” increased in level of skill and was played in a homely atmosphere, which was exceptional. This is a masterpiece in which a master from his home country put all his skill into recording the scene. This is a song where “British” smells not only from the band and the music, but also from every corner of the mood and sound of the venue.
