Description

CAMEL’s “MOONMADNESS” complete reproduction show was a highlight of their 2018 prog Japan visit. This is the best live album of that masterpiece. This work includes the “May 20, 2018: Club Citta Kawasaki” performance. Our shop reports on the memorable great album reproduction concert with masterpieces such as “KAWASAKI 2018 1ST NIGHT” and “KAWASAKI 2018 3RD NIGHT”. We have received great reviews. First of all, let’s check the position with the collection. ・May 16: Club Citta Kawasaki “1ST NIGHT” ・May 17: Club Citta Kawasaki – May 18th off ・May 19: Club Citta Kawasaki “3RD NIGHT” ・May 20: Club Citta Kawasaki [This work] All four performances. In this way, all of them were Club Citta Kawasaki performances, and this is the live album on the final day. The quality of this work is superb! “KAWASAKI 2018 1ST NIGHT” and “KAWASAKI 2018 3RD NIGHT” were collections by the same recordist, but this work is different. It is the work of the master “Western Japan’s Strongest Taper”. As the name suggests, he is a recordist who is active mainly in Osaka, but this CAMEL is limited to Kawasaki. It was recorded on an expedition. However, in recent years, he has become familiar with Kanto performances, and Club Citta Kawasaki in particular has already been conquered with many masterpieces. In this work, he shows off his masterful work, just like Osaka. In fact, the sound of this work can only be called “official class audience”. What is most wonderful is the extremely thick core and detailed details. It is definitely an audience recording because it was handed over to me by the recordist himself, but there is no sense of distance at all. It is amazing how straight-forward it feels like all the members are within reach in a small rehearsal room. Moreover, it is clearly separated, and it is so real that you can see everything from the members’ standing positions to the structure of the drum kit. Although it is so straightforward, it is not only that. Unlike the sound board where the output sound is completely naked, the glossy sound gives a rich and thick response. I would like to say that this is the audience’s feeling, but rather than a customer record, it is the beauty of an official live album where the sound board sound was mixed carefully over time. To be honest, it is difficult to say which is better because the previous two works were also abnormally high quality sound. It is difficult to say which is the best at the level of preference. However, it is this work that is perfect in terms of total balance while aligning every point and every point of greatness. The symbol of this is the cheers. Between songs, generous applause is given to the reproduction of the masterpiece, but it is farther away than the sound of the performance, and yet every single grain of applause is super clear. For some reason, there are no close conversations or applause, but only the enthusiasm that fills the venue is beautifully absorbed. It is a miraculous audience recording that exudes an official sense even down to such small details. The show depicted with that quality is truly wonderful. This visit to Japan was the kickoff point of the 2018 world tour. That’s why there was a solidity in the early dates, as if they were checking the flow of the show and each other’s breathing. However, that also became more and more familiar with each performance, and in the final performance of this work, it was sublimated into a very natural performance. The set is also a point. In fact, on this final day of the Japan performance, there was one less song, and “Sahara” from “RAJAZ” was not performed. However, music is not always about big things. Andrew Latimer turned 69 during this visit to Japan (his birthday was on the second day), so it was wise to give the composition some leeway rather than overcoming the excessive burden with momentum. Although it is unfortunate that there is one less song, thanks to that, the whole show was a fulfilling show in total. This work allows you to listen to the world premiere of “1ST NIGHT”, which is dazzling, “3RD NIGHT”, which performed the most songs due to a full house, and the mature ensemble with the superb sound of the official class. Each of the three albums is superb in its own way, and as a memory of the live performance I saw, I am absolutely confident in each one. However, if you are not listening to it for the memories, if you do not have such an attachment to “Sahara”, then I would definitely recommend this album. That is how wonderful the sound of this album is. A masterpiece of a live recording filled with elegant audience sound.
