Description

Recorded October 25, 1978 in Dusseldorf on a soundboard. The best sound quality with an ideally balanced mix of band sound and audience! (Unfortunately, WHITE RIDER, SUPERTWISTER, LADY FANTAISY, LUNAR SEA, SKYLINES are not included) Richard Sinclair of Caravan and Mel Collins of King Crimson joined in place of Doug Fergusson (September 1977) “RAIN DANCES” and “A LIVE RECORD” released in April 1978) Camel became a five-member group, but this time’s item was released immediately after the release of “BREATHLESS” in September 1978, when Peter Burdens left. This is a very rare sound source from the time when the band (a six-piece band featuring the keyboards of Dave Sinclair and Jan Schellhaas, who were in Caravan) performed. Since the members of Caravan and Camel are 50/50, it is commonly referred to as the “Caramel” lineup (I think it’s only in Japan…) This “Breathless” tour was held in late 1978. A European tour was held, followed by a Japan tour in early 1979 and a North American tour in the spring. Above all, it includes Summer Lightning (exquisite layered melody, vocal work, exhilarating 16 groove unique to this period, beautiful chord progression, perfect voicing) that can be heard for the first time on the “Breathless” tour. It’s really moving, and this take alone is worth the price of this item! ! (Of course, it was not included in the masterpiece “ECHOES IN L.A.” from the LA performance in February 1979.) Anyway, it seems that it existed among DLs and traders, but the 1978 tour itself has never been released at all until now. This first package is a long-awaited release for fans! (It’s a pity that Echoes isn’t being played, though…) The definitive edition of the “Breathless” tour, where you can fully enjoy the ultimate ensemble woven by 6 people, is now available!
