Bryan Ferry/Germany 2015

This is the arrival of a super high quality audience album. The AVONMORE tour, which began in 2014, has been going (so far) up to the UK tour in October of this year. This work includes the “September 10th Dusseldorf performance (Germany)” from the European tour just before that. Originally, European dates were scheduled for the latter half of last year, but they were canceled and rescheduled this year. Moreover, this day was the first day in Germany, and it was truly a “long-awaited live performance”. The set list, centered on the album “AVONMORE”, is once again well-balanced between songs from the Roxy era and solo era, and in particular, the rare song “Bob Dylan’s Dream”, which was provided for the Dylan tribute album, is included in the set. The band members are almost the same as in 2014, but the powerful female drummer Cherisse Osei has been replaced by Luke Bullen. Although there is no outstanding individuality, they are showing a play that has been studied very well from the studio album. Also, this time, it was nice to see the return of violinist Lucy Wilkins, who played a major role in the 2001 Roxy Reunion Tour, and she did not disappoint, playing the entire song “Bete Noire”. The set included “More Than This”, which is not a good song to play live, and “One Night Stand”, which was memorable for its exotic and seductive vocal exchange with Ronnie Spector reminiscent of the old Roxy on the album “AVONMORE”, was faithfully reproduced with three backing choruses, making it a somewhat short concert, but one that even core fans can enjoy. Ferry’s voice was in good condition that day, and it seems that the short gap from the North American tour was a success. In any case, there have been many high-quality audience recordings in recent years, but it may be rare to find a sound source with such a wonderful balance of the sounds of individual instruments, Ferry’s vocals, and the audience’s cheers.
