Description

Brian May teamed up with the late Cozy Powell in the 90’s and continued to pass down QUEEN music as a solo artist. A masterpiece video that allows you to experience the first solo tour on-site is now available. This work was filmed at “New Haven Performance on October 7, 1993.” This is the super spectacular audience shot. This work is an upgraded version of the masterpiece video that became very popular. This is a definitive edition that has thoroughly brushed up the (slightly) flawed audio for the super and spectacular scenery. If you’ve experienced it before, I’m sure you’ve made up your mind based on this alone, but for those who haven’t, let me explain from the beginning. Speaking of the “BACK TO THE LIGHT TOUR” video, there is also the official work “LIVE AT THE BRIXTON ACADEMY”, so let’s check each position from the schedule at that time. 1992, April 20th: Freddie Memorial Concert [“BACK TO THE LIGHT” released on September 28th], November 1st-9th: South America (5 performances) 1993, February 23rd-April 6th : North America #1 (22 performances) ・May 22nd – July 13th: Europe #1 (30 performances) ← *Official video ・September 12th: Switzerland performance ・October 4th – 18th: North America #2 (8 performances) ←★Coco★・November 4-13: Japan (7 performances)・November 20-December 18: Europe #2 (18 performances) This is Brian May in 1992/1993 . It was also the only main activity that took place between “INNUENDO” and “MADE IN HEAVEN”, except for a few one-off stages and pop-ups. “LIVE AT THE BRIXTON ACADEMY” was a traditional venue in the home country of England, but this work can be said to be the American edition. This was the third concert of “North America #2”, which was held about a month before the Japan performance. This work was recorded at such a show, and the scenery is so spectacular that I can’t believe my eyes. The photo was taken from the first floor seat looking directly in front of the center of the stage, and the scene is almost a one-camera professional shot. Brian’s waist up is captured in the center of the screen, and you can stare at it with a sense of stability. The central shot is so straight forward that you can’t help but meet Brian’s eyes and feel awkward. Moreover, behind it is the brave figure of the hero Koji! The highlight is the female chorus and other members zooming in (Neil Murray’s kanji? The shirt is strange), but you can get a close-up look at the two main characters, Brian and Cozy, who are singing and playing in front of the microphone stand. What’s even more surprising is that almost no shielding objects come in. If you pull back as hard as you can between songs, you’ll see that there’s actually some distance, but if you zoom in hard enough, the shadows in the front row disappear. Objectively speaking, the footage was taken between the seats in the front, but I wonder if such a spectacular view is possible with such a method…It is a transcendental image that overturns not only the eyes but also common sense. Everything up to this point is the same, but this work is an upgraded version. The previously released version was made into a DVD using the master that appeared on the internet, but there were some problems with the audio. Although the sound quality was excellent without any complaints, there were some unstable spots on one channel. In this work, such original sound has been extracted and thoroughly remastered. Without altering the natural texture, we carefully repair minute noises and unstable channels one by one. The perfectly polished audio has been synchronized with the video again. What is depicted with such upgraded quality is a full show of Brian, who became the storyteller of QUEEN music after Freddie’s death. Basically it follows “LIVE AT THE BRIXTON ACADEMY”, but it is not exactly the same. Let’s organize the contents here. QUEEN (7 songs)・Sheer Heart Attack: Now I’m Here・A Night at the Opera: Love Of My Life/’39・Splendid Lace: Tie Your Mother Down・Dedicated to the World: We Will Rock You・The・Works: Hammer To Fall ・Innuendo: Headlong BACK TO THE LIGHT (7 songs) ・Back To The Light/Driven By You/Love Token/Let Your Heart Rule Your Head/Too Much Love Will Kill You/Resurrection/Last Horizon Others・Since You Been Gone/Guitar Extravagance/God (The Dream Is Over)…and it goes like this. Brian wrote half of QUEEN’s famous songs and half of “BACK TO THE LIGHT” numbers. They also played RAINBOW’s “Since You Been Gone” and guitar solo “Guitar Extravagance” which were selected for Koji. And, what is different from “LIVE AT THE BRIXTON ACADEMY” is “God (The Dream Is Over)”. It’s a cover of John Lennon, and Brian plays lightly and sings…but in the second half, a full-fledged version that also includes the band is performed. And the performance that plays such a set is just amazing. The cozy QUEEN number is intensely dramatic and surpasses the original, and the “BACK TO THE LIGHT” number strongly appeals to be a “continuation of QUEEN”. Of course, “Resurrection”, which evolved from Cozy’s solo song, includes a drum solo featuring “Overture 1812” and “Bohemian Rhapsody”, and the combination with Neil is also impregnable. Furthermore, Shelley Preston and Kathy Porter’s chorus is also a great success. Chorus work is the key to Brian’s songs, not just QUEEN, but the two of them are not only extremely skillful, but their bellybutton-baring costumes are also sexy, and their long blonde hair makes their singing while headbanging intense. rock. It creates a different level of excitement from the accompaniment chorus that is just good. “BACK TO THE LIGHT TOUR” was no more than “Brian’s solo” at that time. However, to those who are familiar with the “QUEEN+” series, it is dazzling to see how active the album is, with plenty of “QUEEN’s lingering scent” and plenty of new songs. This work is the ultimate upgrade version of the masterpiece video that allows you to fully experience such a full show with a realistic and super-scenic view. The brilliance of “BACK TO THE LIGHT” should be revisited “now” after the re-evaluation of QUEEN that began with the movie. Palace Theatre, New Haven, CT, USA 7th October 1993 *UPGRADE 1.
