Description
This is a two-disc live recording of the first and second shows at the famous St. Louis club “Jazz Bistro,” which had a special set list that does not overlap with the official live performances from the 2008 world tour. The 2008 tour recordings were released in Europe by Megadisc, but there have been no recordings from the American tour, so this performance is the first release, which is a great release for fans. Looking at the set list on the day, there are many songs that are only available during this period and have not been played on recent stages. It is a tasteful set list picked by Mehldau, including Samba Amor, We See, My Ship, and the final song, Toninho Horta’s masterpiece “Aquels Coisas Todas.” Now, the recording this time is an audience recording at a jazz club, and compared to the recording at a large venue, Mehldau’s piano is recorded a little on, making the sound image more grainy, so fans can listen with peace of mind. Also, Jeff Ballard’s powerful drums are recorded a little off. I’m always interested in the latest recordings, but fans can’t miss the performances from this period. In that sense, this live performance is a must-listen.
