This session features wind instruments selected by Mehldau himself, bass clarinet, and Joris Roelos, a young and up-and-coming Dutch saxophonist born in 1984, on clarinet. The addition of wind instruments to Mehldau’s recent live performances is very rare, and Joris’ playing expresses the sound that Mehldau is looking for.
