Description

This is a reissue of “We Found It In The Trashcan, Honest!”, which was released on an analog bootleg record in 1977. All the takes on this album are Tom Schultz’s 1975 home demos, and as the title suggests, it is commonly believed that someone took the reel tapes that had been thrown away in the trash at Tom’s house and turned them into bootlegs. The album contains six completed demo takes, and it is said that it was these takes that led Boston to sign a contract with Epic Records. The recording itself is rough, and the rhythm section’s playing, chorus, and guitar solos are different from the final takes, but the songs themselves are almost complete, including the main arrangements, and it is amazing how talented Tom was at creating them at this stage. “Life Isn’t Easy” is an early version of “Something About You,” and “San Francisco Day” is an early version of “Hitch A Ride.” As for the other songs, you can listen to some very complete takes for normal home demos. Although the recording time is short at 22 minutes, it is still a very enjoyable album to listen to today. The Boston Demo Tapes SBD 1. Rock & Roll Band 2. Life Isn’t Easy (Something About You) 3. More Than A Feeling 4. Don’t Be Afraid of Love 5. Peace of Mind 6. San Francisco Day (Hitch A Ride)
