Description
Boston at the time of their debut, which shocked the whole world with “Fantasy Flight”. The masterpiece that forms the early soundboard trilogy along with the well-received “CLEVELAND 1976” has been upgraded. Two works will be released simultaneously on a meticulous mastering sound CD by “GRAF ZEPPELIN”. The second of the trilogy is engraved with the “Philadelphia performance on December 18, 1976”. This is a stereo soundboard recording. At the beginning, I wrote “Soundboard Trilogy”, but what kind of position will each one be? Let’s take a bird’s-eye view of the activities of the debut era. 1976, August 10: North America #1a (1 performance) {“Fantasy Flight” released on August 25th} ・August 27th + 28th: North America #1b (2 performances) ・September 26th – December 18th: North America #2 (55 performances) ←★Here★ 1977, February 1st – May 25th: North America #3 (90 performances) ←※LONG BEACH 1977 This is BOSTON in 1976/1977. The Philadelphia performance of this work was the final performance of “North America #2” and the last show of 1976. This is about three months after the recently released “CLEVELAND 1976” and about three months before the simultaneous release of “LONG BEACH 1977”. It is the middle soundboard album of the trilogy. The quality of this work is the finest. “CLEVELAND 1976” was a soundboard that was arranged in the style of an official work, but this work is more of a direct-connection system. It doesn’t feel like it was mixed and arranged later, and the bare core is raw. The mix also feels like the vibe of the instruments was vacuum-packed without processing, rather than recreating a concert venue with home audio. And this work is also the highest peak update of such a real soundboard. In fact, it is a soundboard that has been known for a long time, and the previously released “LOOK AHEAD” that came out about 15 years ago was also called “official class”. Although this work is the same soundboard, the master freshness has been improved dramatically. It is a natural and beautiful upgrade board that is different in a different order of magnitude. The big difference is the extension of the treble. The previously released groups including “LOOK AHEAD” may have undergone digital compression somewhere in the distribution process, and the treble had a crisp feeling like mp3. However, the master used this time does not have that distortion. The treble is not cut and it is a natural master that extends beautifully. Of course, this work was meticulously mastered by “GRAF ZEPPELIN” to ensure its natural sound. As always, even the most minute pitch and phase deviations have been corrected, and the CD has been made with the highest quality sound for each band. The highest quality sound has been revived as a full show of the dawn, when the band had gained experience and was rapidly growing as a live band. On this day, they opened for FOGHAT with JAMES GANG, and condensed the best songs into their approximately one-hour performance. Let’s check out the concentration. Fantastic Flight (6 songs) Rock & Roll Band / More Than A Feeling / Peace Of Mind / Something About You / Smokin’ / Foreplay / Long Time Others (3 songs) Shattered Images (Help Me) / Television Politician / Don’t Be Afraid … and so on. All songs from the masterpiece “Fantasy Flight” except “Hitch A Ride” and “Let Me Take You Home Tonight” are performed, and the rare songs “Shattered Images (Help Me)” and “Television Politician” that are not included in the album are also delicious. And above all, the performance has improved. In “CLEVELAND 1976”, there was a sense of stiffness that focused on reproducing the world of the album, but in this work, the confidence that has been accumulated over 50 performances is firmly rooted, and the dynamism unique to live performance is born. In fact, this work has the fewest songs in the early soundboard trilogy, but on the other hand, it is the most upgraded. It will be a piece that feels fresher to those who are familiar with the existing releases. From Tom Scholz’s recording project to the live unit. A super masterpiece of a soundboard album that pours the rapidly evolving live performance of BOSTON directly into your brain. (Remaster Memo) Remastered a master that is different from the existing releases. The point is the natural texture that is more analog-like than the existing releases. The original material has a more natural texture than the previous release, so we have taken advantage of that by not increasing the sound pressure with excessive EQ processing, and instead limiting it to volume adjustment and phase correction. Stereo soundboard recording of the “Philadelphia performance on December 18, 1976”. The exposed core is a lively direct-connected soundboard, and the vibes of the instruments are vacuum-packed without processing. Moreover, this is the highest peak update. “GRAF ZEPPELIN” meticulously mastered the natural master without the crispness of the high notes that have already been released. The precious songs “Shattered Images (Help Me)” and “Television Politician” are new masterpieces that will pour into your brain with a delicious full show.
