In December 2013, they released their first album in 11 years, “Life, Love & Hope,” and in October 2014, their first tour of Japan in 35 years was a huge success. From June to August before their Japan visit, the band’s “Heaven On Earth Summer Tour” consisted of 16 performances, and this 1 hour 46 minute recording of the Charlotte, North Carolina performance on June 10th was recorded in full in stereo soundboard audio in official quality from the broadcast master. While many audience recordings have been available from this tour, including the Japan performance, it is great for fans to be able to listen to the full live performance on the soundboard for the first time. Tom Schultz’s timeless guitar, Tommy DeCarlo’s vocals, who has replaced Brad Delp since 2008, and the dynamic band sound of the ironclad ensemble are all perfectly reproduced, and the Boston classics revived with such hyper quality are truly spectacular. First, they opened with familiar numbers such as Rock & Roll Band, Smokin’, and Feelin’ Satisfied, then performed the dramatic instrumental Last Day Of School from “Life, Love & Hope”, and in the second half, they also performed numbers from “Third Stage”. The main set ended with a 13-minute Walk On Medley and the familiar Foreplay / Long Time. The encore was followed by an introduction of the members, followed by I Think I Like It from “Third Stage”, which they had not played since the 2006 tour, and ended with Party, a spectacular show.
