Description
Boston at the time of their debut, which shocked the whole world with “Fantastic Flight”. The masterpiece that forms the early soundboard trilogy along with the well-received “CLEVELAND 1976” has been upgraded. Two works will be released simultaneously on a meticulously mastered sound CD by “GRAF ZEPPELIN”. This work, the final of the trilogy, features two performances. Of the two performances held on one day in Philadelphia on December 18, 1976, this is a stereo soundboard recording set with the 1st show on DISC 1 and the 2nd show on DISC 2. Now, as usual, let’s look back on the activities at that time and check the position of the show. 1976, August 10: North America #1a (1 performance) {“Fantasy Flight” released on August 25th} ・August 27th + 28th: North America #1b (2 performances) ・September 26th – December 18th: North America #2 (55 performances) ←※CLEVELAND 1976 and others 1977, February 1st – May 25th: North America #3 (90 performances) ←★Here★ This is BOSTON in 1976/1977. Of the early soundboard trilogy, “CLEVELAND 1976” and “PHILADELPHIA 1976” were “North America #2” at the beginning of the tour, but only the Long Beach performance of this work was the new year “North America #3”. It was the 41st and 42nd concerts. These two performances are also famous for the fact that the finest soundboards were left behind. In particular, the 2nd show (DISC 2) is a completely official sound board broadcast on “King Biscuit Flower Hour”, and has reigned as a long-time staple. If you have noticed this article, you may have experienced some kind of pre-release. Also, the 1st show is also super-excellent. This is a relatively new master unearthed about 10 years ago, but it is very beautiful, probably because it was recorded for broadcast. The simultaneously released “PHILADELPHIA 1976” was an unprocessed type directly connected to the desk, but this is a sound board that was prepared as a music work from the beginning. And this work is the highest peak of such two performance sound boards. It is a masterpiece among masterpieces that has been polished by meticulous mastering by “GRAF ZEPPELIN” using the same master as the masterpiece “WESTERN LEGACY” that became a hot topic as the best master. The method goes into the fine and fine treatment. Pitch and phase correction does not allow even 1/1000th of a second of deviation, and various noises such as hiss, hum, and gaps are checked and processed in detail, and the balance is adjusted after band analysis. In the case of this work, since it is completely official from the beginning, it has not turned into “something completely different” (it would be ruined if it turned out that way), but its accuracy is definitely the highest ever. It is an upgrade in the dimension of official high-quality CDs such as “Mobile Fidelity” and “Nimbus Supercut”. Such “official substitute” sound depicts two performances that are proficient as live acts. First of all, the set is the most delicious of the trilogy, so let’s organize it here. Fantastic Flight (6 songs) Rock & Roll Band / More Than A Feeling / Peace Of Mind / Something About You / Smokin’ / Foreplay / Long Time Others (5 songs) Don’t Look Back: A Man I’ll Never Be / Don’t Be Afraid (*) Non-album songs: Shattered Images (Help Me) / This Time (★) / Television Politician *Note: * marks are for the 1st show (DISC 1) only. ★ marks are for songs that were not heard on “CLEVELAND 1976” and “PHILADELPHIA 1976”. … and so on. In addition, the 2nd show includes a bonus mix of “More Than A Feeling”. The performance itself is the same as the main broadcast version, but it is a secret track that conveys the atmosphere before the performance more naturally. The trilogy includes the big performance of the “Fantasy Flight” number and the non-album songs “Shattered Images (Help Me)” and “Television Politician,” but this work also features the bluesy “This Time.” Both performances start with a guitar solo, and the flow of the performance makes you feel very familiar with live performances. Of course, experience is accumulated in the performance of each song, and the ensemble that understands each other’s breathing is very wonderful. This is a different level of skill from simply practicing. A live performance is when the audience is in front of you, and their joy, anger, sorrow, and happiness come directly to you. If you get excited, you can play more powerfully, and you can create the next wave by pulling back intentionally. The experience of controlling the audience’s emotions with such sounds is an experience of “sympathy” that is different from the songwriting that you think about with your head. You can clearly feel the growth that comes from repeating this every night. This is the final trilogy that permanently preserves the sound board that represents the debut at the time with the highest peak updated sound. This is the final and most fulfilling two-disc set. This is the “official replacement” absolute edition that permanently preserves two full performances of BOSTON’s imposing stage, which has grown as a live act. (Remastering memo) Disc 1 corrects the gap noise that occurred in places. Disc 2 removes some low-frequency noise (hum noise), allowing you to enjoy a somewhat cleaner sound. Bonus includes an alternate mix (strictly speaking, a different edited version) of “More Than A Feeling”. The length of the inter-song part before the performance (this bonus track is longer) and the way the audience noise is covered near the intro of the song are completely different. (Excerpt from the reel version released by JEMS) This is a two-disc set of stereo soundboard recordings with the 1st show of “Philadelphia, December 18, 1976” on DISC 1 and the 2nd show on DISC 2. The 2nd show is also famous for the King Biscuit Flower Hour broadcast, but the quality is superb, approaching the 1st show. Both are the definitive editions that have been permanently preserved after being polished by meticulous mastering by “GRAF ZEPPELIN”. This is an absolute edition that serves as the “official substitute” of the debut era, where you can enjoy “This Time” only in the latter half of the tour.
