Description
From the Japan tour of BECAUSE WE CAN THE TOUR 2013 accompanying “WHAT ABOUT NOW”, a CD has been released in Osaka and Tokyo, completely recorded from the original master with super high quality audience recordings of such a high level that it is hard to believe that both were recorded at large venues. During the South American tour held in September, Tico Torres temporarily left due to illness, and Richie Sambora mysteriously left the band during the tour (there are also rumors of him leaving the band), and this Japan performance was held in a situation that included the greatest crisis in the band’s history. Since their first visit to Japan in 1984 at the legendary “SUPER ROCK ’84”, this Osaka performance was their 99th performance in Japan, and Tokyo was their 100th performance in Japan. Unfortunately, there were no ceremonies or surprises to celebrate the 99th and 100th performances, and no song selections unique to Japan, but it was an incandescent live performance lasting more than two hours, full of hits and classics as well as new songs, giving a sense of the dignity of the band, which will celebrate its 30th anniversary next year. It was a little strange and lonely without Richie Sambora on stage, but Phil X, who has worked with Alice Cooper, Tommy Lee of MOTLEY CRUE, and Avril Lavigne, filled in for Richie, and performed more than as a substitute with his rock star presence and solid playing that accurately reproduced Richie’s playing. Bobby Bandiera, who has been playing side guitar for the past few years, often took solos, which is unique to this live performance in this situation. Bobby also reproduced Richie’s playing solidly. Jon Bon Jovi was in poor health due to a cold and had difficulty hitting the high notes, so he faked them, got the audience to sing, and went backstage. Perhaps due to Jon’s health, in Osaka, “In These Arms,” which was originally positioned as an encore, was suddenly moved to the main part, and was performed with only David Bryan on vocals. This was a surprise that could only be expected in Osaka (the next day in Tokyo, John sang as an encore as planned. Apparently John was getting a massage backstage during the song). David and the other backing members made up for John’s poor condition, and the incandescent interplay between the instruments in the second half of “Keep The Faith” was especially noteworthy, with David’s organ playing reminiscent of Jon Lord. Although the song order was different in both Osaka and Tokyo, the songs played were almost the same, with the Osaka encore featuring the early classic “Runaway.” The rock ‘n’ roll classic cover included in “I’ll Sleep When I’m Dead” was slightly different between Osaka and Tokyo, and after David Bryan sang Great Balls of Fire while playing the piano, the Stones covers Jumping Jack Flash and Start Me Up were played in Osaka, which heated up both the performance and the audience. At the Tokyo concert, the familiar songs from Status Quo, Rockin’ All Over The World, Start Me Up by the Stones (coincidentally, the Stones’ Japan concert was officially announced on the evening of the same day), Great Balls of Fire by Jerry Lee Lewis, and You Shook Me All Night Long by AC/DC, which they had also practiced in the rehearsal on the day, were performed with Phil X on vocals. At the beginning of both concerts of Wanted Dead Or Alive, John thanks the fans for their support over the past 30 years, but in Tokyo, he says, “If you have a cell phone, if it has a camera, turn it on and hold it up,” and the entire venue is covered with the white lights of cell phones and smartphones, quickly transforming it into a fantastic space, and the atmosphere of such sounds is also a highlight of the concert. This year, the Osaka performance was recorded by the strongest taper in western Japan, which has been used to record high-quality sound from ZODIAC with AEROSMITH, METALLICA, KISS, etc., and finally, on the first day of Paul McCartney’s Osaka performance, the decisive board “OUT THERE IN OSAKA: FIRST NIGHT” was recorded with the strongest taper in western Japan, which successfully recorded the miraculous ultra-high-quality sound that became the No. 1 performance. The recording position in Osaka is from the front of the arena. There is no reverberation, reverberation, or low-pitched sound that is peculiar to the dome, and the sound is punchy and direct. Another nice point is that there are no singing voices, clapping, or cheers that interfere with listening. The Tokyo performance was recorded from the right side of the A14 block (the front block in front of the screen and PA on the right hand side of the stage). This is also literally the best sound quality recording, which is impossible with an average taper. There are no noisy spectators around, and the sound from the PA is loud and straight, so you can fully enjoy this moving live performance. Due to the characteristics of the venue, the sound is more direct in Osaka, but there are not many high-quality recordings of the Tokyo Dome. The definitive edition of Bon Jovi’s 2013 Japan Tour, which was completed in both Osaka and Tokyo by one of the best tapers in the best position and under the best conditions, has been decided to be released.
