Description
Bob Dylan celebrated his 80th birthday last month, which was a hot topic, but the current situation is that he hasn’t released any items that would please enthusiasts. Therefore, this time we will release two titles of his vintage sound sources. The first was a session he did with country great Johnny Cash in Nashville in 1969. The only song released from the two-day session was the duet song “Girl From The North Country,” which opened the album “NASHVILLE SKYLINE”. However, various items from the LP era, including “THE DYLAN CASH SESSION”, revealed the fact that they had recorded enough songs to make an album. Furthermore, in recent years, when the details of Dylan’s recording became clear, it was revealed that the session with Cash was set up in the middle of recording for “NASHVILLE SKYLINE”, and a large number of songs were recorded in two days. That becomes clear. If that happens, I’d like to hear more of his songs…That’s what enthusiasts all over the world have been wishing for, but there’s no sign of them being discovered. “TRAVELIN’ THRU”, released 50 years after the session in Nashville, lowered the appetite of such maniacs. The session with Cash has finally been released, and there are a lot of takes and songs that have never appeared before…especially the session part with Cash, which has never been released on past LPs or CDs, and takes that even enthusiasts have never heard. I was concentrating on As a result, the performance and trial and error that was less complete than the final take that could be heard in the past items will be seen in close-up, and the take that was heard in monaural in the previous items will be heard in stereo and with the highest sound quality. Don’t you think that will happen? The ironic result was that it aroused another type of dissatisfaction. Fortunately, in 2019, the annual copyright protection title “50TH ANNIVERSARY COLLECTION 1969” was released for Dylan mania, so the remaining takes were finally released in stereo and the highest sound quality… Although this was good, it wasn’t easy. Yes, “50TH ANNIVERSARY COLLECTION” was a super limited release only in a part of Europe, and was far from being distributed to the general public. The 1970 edition of the “50TH ANNIVERSARY COLLECTION” released at the end of last year had a big topic of participation by George Harrison, so the local release was met with a lot of boos, and the “1970” was the first worldwide distribution edition in the history of the series. It was released, but it was an exception among exceptions. As for the 1969 version, there was only a Europe-only release as before, and because of this, the cache session was released in two parts, and one was extremely difficult to obtain. I got into a situation. Therefore, this time we will combine the sessions with Cash, which were previously released under these two titles, and arrange them in the order in which they were recorded and release them in a complete form. As you can see from the list of songs this time, the number of takes in some songs is lacking. These are takes at a level that stumbled at the beginning, and it was judged that there was no need to release the two titles mentioned above. Therefore, these two titles are currently complete. Of course, there is no art in simply putting things together. Actually, there is a problem that the volume level of the take recorded in “TRAVELIN’ THRU” is lower for some reason compared to “50TH ANNIVERSARY COLLECTION 1969”. By adjusting this during recording, we were able to listen to the entire session without any discomfort. Furthermore, “Girl From The North Country” (this is Take 3) included in “NASHVILLE SKYLINE”, which is the only sound source released in 1969, which was first mentioned, is also covered. And since all the takes with a high degree of perfection were gathered only in the “50TH ANNIVERSARY COLLECTION 1969”, there are many enthusiasts who are hearing for the first time in this release the stereo and highest quality versions of each take that they have been accustomed to hearing for a long time. So. Although the monaural version heard in the previously released items matched the country sound of Nashville, the stereo recording is still impressive. The first day of the session started with “One Too Many Mornings,” but since the filming crew for Johnny Cash’s documentary “THE MAN AND HIS MUSIC” was present, it was recorded before the official recording began. It surprised enthusiasts around the world that it even included rehearsal footage. Moreover, it included songs such as “Matchbox,” which is well known for its Beatles covers, and “That’s All Right Mama,” which is known as Presley’s debut song. At least the number of takes shows that the arrangements were different. The main reason for this difference was the result of trial and error between Dylan and Cash to find a key that they could harmonize with. Because he was a skilled musician from Nashville, including Perkins, his sound was impeccable. This was the reason why only one song was released at the time, despite having recorded so many songs. This seems to be because there was no benefit for both Dylan and Cash to release a joint album. That’s why this session between Dylan and Cash has been loved by enthusiasts on previous LPs and CDs, but it is once again the best stereo. The sound quality of Nashville’s country sound is nothing short of amazing, and even though they are from different genres, they sing famous songs such as “Ring Of Fire” and “I Walk The Line.” The whole story of the fantastic collaboration between musicians Columbia Studio A, Nashville, Tennessee, USA 17th & 18th February 1969 STEREO SBD Disc 1 (51:25) 17th February 1969 1.
