Description
The second day of the 1978 world tour, held at Earl’s Court in London, England, on June 16th, is recorded in full with a high-quality audience recording, with astonishing sound quality for the time. In February of that year, the band performed their legendary first tour in Japan, which lasted for 11 days, and three months later, after a warm-up gig in Los Angeles, they embarked on their European tour in perfect condition. While there have been multiple recordings of Earl’s Court performances on different days, this second day is the first recording to be released by a taper in recent years, making it extremely rare. The concert started with an instrumental rendition of “Heavy Rain is Falling” and included a live performance of their then-new song “Baby Stop Crying.” The show featured bold arrangements of not only numbers from “Street Legal” but also their biggest hits of the past, making it difficult to understand the original songs. This performance was similar to their Japanese concerts and was a nostalgic one for fans who remembered the time. Live At Earls Court, London, UK June 16th 1978 DISC 1 : 01.
