Description

To commemorate the release of Bob Dylan’s 1978 world tour after a long time, we have prepared a rare recording from the tour. The release will be in Paris in July, so it will be from the fall US tour to Baton Rouge on November 29th. This is also the last performance of the tour in the US in November. Although it is a mono recording, it is an audience recording with very good sound quality, and although the sound image does not reach the level of this Paris (Paris is too close), the recording state with a moderate distance is unique and easy to listen to, which can be called attractive. This is an easy-to-listen-to recording, and it has a track record of being released in the past, and when “LEGAL MIND IN LOUISIANA” was released, it was evaluated as a “good record” among enthusiasts. However, the release itself was about 15 years ago, and the original was an unknown copy of the time, and the pitch was negligent as it was made overseas, and even if you have it, there is also the question of whether it can be played now. In that respect, the sound quality, which was easy to listen to, has been further improved by recording from the master cassette this time. Not only that, but the biggest problem with this recording, the low pitch only in the first half of the live performance, has also been properly adjusted. Although this recording has a good reputation among enthusiasts, what is most surprising is the sudden change in the sound three months after the Paris performance in July (August was counted excluding the tour off). The entertainer-like atmosphere that was emitted at that time has disappeared, and instead a hard and rock sound has come to the fore. “Masters Of War”, which was already a hard arrangement, even has a metallic atmosphere, and “Like A Rolling Stone” has evolved into a rock arrangement where the performance starts after Billy Cross plays a guitar solo. Dylan’s hard schedule in America started in September, and his voice is rough but he sings (sometimes it seems like he is screaming), which has strengthened the rock color, and the unreleased song “Am I Your Stepchild?” that was performed during this period is also powerful. However, Dylan is not so easy to get rid of when you think that the rock color will become stronger one-sidedly. “Mr. Tambourine Man,” which was performed very lightly and pop-like in the Paris performance, suddenly changed to a slow, gospel-like arrangement with the tempo lowered. The aggressive attitude of playing songs with slow tempos, such as “Tangled Up In Blue,” which is sung in a similarly slow gospel style, one after another even at the beginning of the live performance is very characteristic of them, and the live performance structure at this time does not fall into the trap of being simply hard and rough. When compared to this Paris performance, you can enjoy the sudden change in sound and singing style that makes you wonder “Is this the same tour?” At the same time, this high-grade CD, which is recorded for the first time with accurate pitch, easily dismisses the nostalgic already released CD. Enjoy Baton Rouge in 1978, with its aggressive sound that has completely changed from Paris! L.S.U.
