Description
From the Mike Millard Tapes “Legendary” series comes Bob Dylan’s 1988 live performance. 1988 is the year that the “Never Ending Tour” began, as fans know it. This recording captures the first year of the great tour that continues to this day, as the tour name suggests. The first bandmaster was G.E. Smith, who later organized the Bob Dylan 30th Anniversary Festival in 1993. He is a guitarist famous for his work with Daryl Hall and John Oates. The band’s lineup at this time is extremely simple and solid rock. It’s a shame that the final encore, “All the Way from the Watchtower,” is missing, but the relatively rare “Masters of War” is played. I wish they would play this song on the current tour. The “Mike Millard Tapes” have been digitalized from direct masters or low-generation tapes in recent years. This tape was recorded by Mike Millard, a taper well known to fans for his outstanding skills in audience recording. The label has also released several recordings using the newly digitized Mike Millerd Tape as the master, and there are two types: “Brushed Mike Millerd Tape” and “Legendary Mike Millerd Tape”. Not all Mike Millerd Tapes are perfect in sound quality, and some have room for significant work and improvement. The “Brushed” series includes tapes that have been extensively worked on and improved. The “Legendary” series includes tapes that were close to perfect from the start, with little room for improvement in sound quality, and with minimal editing such as light editing between songs.
