Description

Although it is Dylan’s masterpiece album, the surprising dilemma of this masterpiece is that the stereo mix from 1966 has not been released on CD. The reason for this is as I mentioned earlier, but it is natural for enthusiasts to want to listen to the original mix from 1966. I would also like to compare it with this 2015 mix. The original LP was released in the UK in 1999 as a series called “SIMPLY VINYL”. In this series, various artists’ masterpieces are released as LPs using high-quality vinyl. Now that records have made a comeback, I am keenly aware that this project was completely ahead of its time. That’s all well and good, but the original stereo mix from 1966 was used for the first time in a long time in “SIMPLY VINYL” of “BLONDE ON BLONDE”, which became a hot topic among enthusiasts. There is no way to know now why it was pressed with that mix at the end of the century, but now that the LP has been restored, this “SIMPLY VINYL” version is being reevaluated as a matter of course. However, only the first press of this “SIMPLY VINYL” version contained the original mix, and after that it was replaced with the same master as the CD at that time. Because of that, the first press of “SIMPLY VINYL” was secretly a popular LP among enthusiasts, but this CD was created from this first press LP. However, for this release, it was not recorded from the LP, but was based on a file that was previously circulating on the internet. Therefore, there is some scratch noise from the first song “Rainy Day Women #12 & 35”, but it is still enough to enjoy the 1966 original mix. It is different from not only this 2015 mix but also the current CD and distributed stereo mix, but the one that has been famous for a long time is “Fourth Time Around”. At the same time as Dylan’s song enters, a bass harmonica is constantly playing from the right channel, but this can only be heard in the original mix. It certainly feels unbalanced, and it seems like the right thing to do was to remove it from subsequent mixes. In addition, the performance and Dylan’s vocals of “Pledging My Time” are more vivid, and there are many enthusiasts who feel that this is preferable to the current stereo mix. And compared to the 2015 mix, the stereo image and sound quality are completely different, and it will be fun to listen and compare. Taken from the UK Simply Vinyl 2LP(CBS SVLP 063) (73:34) 1. Rainy Day Women #12 & 35 2. Pledging My Time 3. Visions Of Johanna 4. One Of Us Must Know (Sooner Or Later) 5. I Want You 6. Memphis Blues Again 7. Leopard-Skin Pill-Box Hat 8. Just Like A Woman 9. Most Likely You Go Your Way And I’ll Go Mine 10. Temporary Like Achilles 11. Absolutely Sweet Marie 12. 4th Time Around 13. Obviously 5 Believers 14. Sad Eyed Lady Of The Lowlands
