Description

JEMS, the company that releases historical audience sources in high quality, has done it again! What they uploaded this time was an upgraded version of the concert sound source of “Blind Faith”, a supergroup formed by Eric Clapton and Stevie Winwood after the breakup of Cream. This is a complete recording of the stage when they appeared at a festival held in Wisconsin on July 26, 1969, during the first half of the US tour that was the end of Blind Faith’s activities that lasted only six months. This sound source itself was released with the same content as a vintage boot called “SUNSHINE MILWAUKEE”, but this time JEMS uploaded a first generation master with dramatically improved sound quality that you wouldn’t think it was the same sound source! I can’t believe such a master exists! Our staff was surprised. However, when carefully checking the JEMS master, there were many defects. There was an edit at the total of 32:15:21 point after the end of Presence Of The Lord, and there was a small noise. And there was an edited section at 46:26:22 in the middle of Ginger Baker’s drum solo number Do What You Like, where there was some small noise. Of course, we carefully removed these small noises. Even if you listen carefully, you won’t notice the edited section. Furthermore, after Sleeping In The Ground, the pitch had become 20-30% lower due to the aging of the tape, so this was also adjusted normally. And we raised the sound pressure, which was generally low, and reborn it into a condition where you can feel the high sound quality of this time even more. There may be some enthusiasts who have already downloaded it and enjoyed it, but this is an upgraded media version by a professional engineer of the upgrade master. Now, let’s look at how valuable this sound source is by looking back at Clapton’s activities in 1969. – March 18th and 19th, 1969: Appeared in the jazz and rock crossover session “Super Show”, which was recorded on video in Staines, a suburb of London.・February to May 1969: Recording of Blind Faith’s debut album in London ・June 7, 1969: Blind Faith’s debut concert in Hyde Park, London ・June 12 to 19, 1969: Scandinavian tour ・July 11 to August 24, 1969: US tour ←★Here★≪During this time, August 1, 1969: Release of the album “BLIND FAITH”≫ ・September 13, 1969: Appeared as a member of the “Plastic Ono Band”, formed by John Lennon, at the “Rock and Roll Revival Festival” held at the Varsity Stadium in Toronto.・November 20-29, 1969: Toured Germany as part of Delaney, Bonnie & Friends ・December 1-15, 1969: Toured the UK as part of Delaney, Bonnie & Friends This was a turbulent year for Clapton. He had been working on forming a new band by developing the sessions with S. Winwood since the beginning of the year, but Ginger Baker showed up and forced himself to join. The production company recommended Rick Grech as the bassist, and they formed a band and recorded an album. Up until this point, things were going well, but despite a lack of repertoire, they were booked without permission from their debut concert to a long-term US tour, and Clapton finally snapped during the tour, which he embarked on in confusion. He became fascinated with Delaney & Bonnie, whom he had appointed as a support act, and as he continued to work with them, the band fell apart at the end of the tour. Clapton approached Delaney & Bonnie even more and joined their band. Such a dizzying development took place during the year. From the middle of the year, when the British supergroup with Clapton, who had already established a worldwide reputation with Cream, made a spectacular debut, to the end of the year, Clapton found a place as a sideman for an unknown American band in LA Swamp. This dramatic change and transition has been proven to have had a major impact on Clapton’s later career, but it can be said that this album captured the wavering Clapton’s heart! As if to show the lack of repertoire, they played unreleased songs other than the album numbers, Sleeping In The Ground, and because there were no songs to play, they played Cream’s hit song Sunshine Of Your Love as an encore, aiming for a “received” audience. There was only one album. Clapton’s motivation was declining due to the long tour he was forced to do, with little communication with the unfamiliar bassist. It was his relationship with Delaney & Bonnie that somehow kept him going. In the encore of this album, Delaney & Bonnie, who are thought to have been invited by Clapton, participated. You can hear the vocals of this duo clearly. It was unthinkable to improve the sound quality to this extent in the past. Even though Clapton’s motivation was declining, it is clear that he is demonstrating his professional musicianship. He plays a lot in the regular set. In the number Had To Cry Today, which opened up new territory with twin leads, he plays an overwhelming performance that overpowers Winwood’s somewhat halting solo while keeping the ensemble. In the following Can’t Find My Way Home, he has returned to the album arrangement, which had been played in the “electric version” arrangement that was unreleased at the time since the debut concert (Winwood also played the organ). It is wonderful to see Clapton reproduce the phrases played on the acoustic guitar on the album with an electric guitar. Here, Winwood plays the guitar from the previous song, not the keyboard. Listening to the whole album with this amazing sound quality will change your perception of Blind Faith. Until now, their best sound sources were (1) the soundboard source in Hyde Park, (2) the audience source in Gothenburg, Sweden, and (3) the audience source from the Santa Barbara performance at the end of the US tour, which reigned as the “three major” live sound sources, but a new history has been added here. The Wisconsin performance, which was once difficult to listen to due to its mediocre sound quality, has been added to the good sound sources with the appearance of this board, and has come to be called the “four major” sound sources. JEMS has brought back the sound source that was about to go into oblivion, and our shop has released it in the best form. Wisconsin State Fair Park Grounds, West Allis, WI.
