Description
1970-1972 was the most important period for the forefathers of all heavy music, the legendary Black Sabbath. This four-disc set features faithful reissues of their first four albums, including “Black Sabbath,” “Paranoid,” “Master of Reality,” and “Black Sabbath IV.” This set features the highest quality reissues of the first pressings originally released by the Vertigo label in the UK. The Sanctuary and Rhino styles are completely different, but this release is more than just a vinyl reissue. Our store has a long history of bringing you classic albums digitized by international audiophiles seeking the ultimate sound. Pink Floyd, Led Zeppelin, Deep Purple, Rainbow… Many (though not all) of these albums peaked on their original UK vinyl releases. This release follows that tradition. This is a truly mint, unused vinyl record digitized in a state-of-the-art, high-quality environment specialized for analog transcription. There’s not a single needle pop or hint of unevenness in playback, resulting in the pinnacle of quality sound, discovered by pursuing the original sound captured by the master tape. The “original sound” resurrected in this modern era is overwhelming. Current remasters of BLACK SABBATH are broadly divided into American (RHINO) and domestic (SANCTUARY) versions, with the RHINO version being the more widely distributed worldwide. The current RHINO version’s sound is simply flashy, with peak sound pressure levels at their limits and a tremendous stereo image. It’s a flashy, ultra-vivid sound that spreads all the way to the rear, like twisting your body left and right during radio calisthenics. In contrast, the domestic SANCTUARY version is completely natural. The stereo image is kept at about 45 degrees left and right, yet each individual note possesses a three-dimensional quality and elegance. It sounds almost like a completely different mix. This first UK LP is the most natural of the Sanctuary series. This release is, of course, closer to the SANCTUARY release, if not even more so. While the SANCTUARY remaster sounds natural, it’s finished with a more recent sensibility, emphasizing the deep bass. The “SABBATH = heavy” mentality leads to a blatant overtone. In contrast, this release has a distinctly ’70s feel. While the rich bass is certainly present, it’s balanced with the guitar, vocals, and drums, perfectly capturing the band’s original sound. And the bass is incredibly delicate. The vibe that fades away at its peak in the current, emphasized remaster is beautifully preserved. You can clearly feel the skin of the bass drum and the vibration of the bass strings, and even the final vibe of the notes fading into the pitch-black darkness is beautifully captured. “Black Sabbath”: This ultra-natural sound reveals the essence of BLACK SABBATH and vividly highlights their evolution. Take “Black Sabbath,” for example. Although this is their debut, it’s also often referred to as a “studio live album,” and its live feel and authenticity are striking. While there’s certainly the elegance of a finished work that’s been mixed, the live performances inherent in it are incredibly real. It’s as if Ozzy Osbourne and Tony Iommi are right there, with a sense of reality that makes you feel as if you’re right there in the studio. “Paranoid” is an irresistibly rich album. The bass drum recording sounds cheap, making the album somewhat unclear, but the current remastered CD tries to forcibly enhance the definition by elevating the peaks of the percussion sounds. However, this album is completely natural. The percussion sounds, true to the original recording, create beautiful peaks, with no sense of strain in every single hit, harmonizing beautifully with the bass and guitar. “Master of Reality,” an even more profound and profound evolution than “Master of Reality,” is incredibly deep. By this time, the ’60s sensibility had faded and a pursuit of heaviness began, but the richness of this sound is superb. Unlike remastered CDs, which emphasize power and impact with a sense of unevenness, the smoothness of every range of sound creates an overwhelming sense of texture. The “massful sound” absorbed into the original master tapes is reproduced. “Black Sabbath IV” was suddenly more colorful with the bold introduction of piano and Mellotron. The guitars were also multi-tracked in a way that was incomparable to previous releases, and the band’s experimental spirit was fully unleashed, with “FX” creating a sense of space so outlandish that it almost abandoned the concept of song. The realistic sound of this album vividly brings back the many experiments. While some releases, like the VICTOR paper jacket, have inverted stereo positioning, this release, of course, retains the correct positioning as in the original. This is the origin. This is the real sound. This is the true original sound, untainted by the “illusion of the original” that has since been exaggerated. Over 50 years have passed since the release of each of these four albums, and the master tapes themselves have likely deteriorated. This four-disc set features reissues of the original UK LPs, delivering the true sound of Black Sabbath today. This miraculous set is the result of the passion of audiophiles who meticulously transferred the sound to digital. The original UK LPs of the band’s first four albums, “Black Sabbath,” “Paranoid,” “Master of Reality,” and “Black Sabbath IV,” have been meticulously digitized. The original sound, as captured on the master tapes, is restored without a single needle pop or noticeable unevenness. Enjoy the naturalness of the original recordings, which is on a different level from current digitally processed remasters, and the intricate details that only the original recordings can offer.
