Description
The legendary demo officially recognized as “Ray Gillan’s version of THE ETERNAL IDOL” has been brushed up! In addition to the main part polished by GRAF ZEPPELIN mastering, an additional studio track that will be “Ray’s version of SEVENTH STAR” is also included. It is the ultimate studio album CD of the Ray era. This work is engraved with three stereo soundboard recordings. This is a studio album that adds the “THE ETERNAL IDOL” demo (8 songs) sung by Ray Gillan and the “SEVENTH STAR” demo (4 songs + 1 song). Some people may say, “Eh? Ray joined after “SEVENTH STAR” was released, right?” Let’s introduce each sound source individually, including the circumstances around that. The highest peak updated version of THE ETERNAL IDOL demo (8 songs) First of all, the main focus of this work is the masterpiece “THE ETERNAL IDOL” demo. It is a studio recording in which Ray was the vocalist for all the songs before Tony Martin joined. However, there are actually many different types of “THE ETERNAL IDOL demos.” This is a good opportunity, so let’s start by sorting out the four demos that have been unearthed so far. ★A: Demo with vocals/solo ←★This work★ This is the most complete demo in the rough mix stage. It was first discovered in Bondage label’s “THE RAY GILLEN YEARS,” and then our “THE ETERNAL IDOL “RAY GILLEN” MIX,” which was significantly upgraded, made it the king of demos. The “RAY GILLEN MIX” was also the basis for the demos that were made official in the Deluxe Edition of “THE ETERNAL IDOL.” However, the sound, which was heavily boosted, was not the best, and “Ancient Warrior” was also altered to a different pitch from the original performance. In the end, our “RAY GILLEN MIX” has been considered the best version to this day. ◆B: A rough mix just before the demo “A” with vocals/no solo, before the guitar solo is added. The first excavation was the legendary “COMPLETE RAY GILLEN YEARS”, and then the remastered version “MAXIMUM RAY GILLEN YEARS” was released. However, there is no upgrade version of the original master itself. ◆C: Unlike the temporary vocal demos “A” and “B” from the middle of production, this is a demo in progress before the actual recording. The arrangement has not been decided, and Ray also has temporary lyrics and a humming guide vocal. You can enjoy it on the masterpiece “THE ETERNAL IDOL WORKING TRACKS”. ◆D: The earliest instrumental demo of the four demos. This is the earliest instrumental demo. This is also the first appearance of the masterpiece “THE ETERNAL IDOL INSTRUMENTAL DEMOS”. …And so it is. The above is the order of excavation, but coincidentally it is also the order of gradually going back through the production stages. And the one included in this work is “A”. It is the most complete demo with vocals and guitar solos. The best master of this sound source is the legendary “THE ETERNAL IDOL “RAY GILLEN” MIX” unearthed by our shop. This work goes back to the original master and is the highest peak update board polished by GRAF ZEPPELIN. In fact, its quality is the best ever. It was a completely official grade from the conventional board, so it is not a big change, but the pitch and phase correction is strict and the noise processing is also careful. The extremely fine analog noise caused by the master is also beautifully arranged, and a powerful sound that meets modern audio standards is realized without generating any distortion in the original sound. SEVENTH STAR demo with Ray’s vocals (4 songs + 1) Following such “Ray version THE ETERNAL IDOL” is a studio recording that will be “Ray version SEVENTH STAR”. Of course, there is no “SEVENTH STAR demo sung by Ray”, but this work is a mash-up sound source created to realize such a “dream of mania”. This was not produced by our shop, but was brought about by the excavation route of “THE ETERNAL IDOL “RAY GILLEN” MIX” that surprised the world (apparently it has not been widely released on the Internet, and it seems to be distributed only among a very limited number of traders). Vocals are extracted from the live recordings of the Ray era and synchronized with the instrumental demo of “SEVENTH STAR”. Yes, it is a take that realizes the “dream of maniacs” using the same method as RAINBOW’s masterpieces “ANOTHER FINYL VINYL” and “DOWN TO EARTH ROUGH MIX: DELUXE EDITION”. The finished product is comparable to the main THE ETERNAL IDOL demo. The backing performance seems to be “UNSUNG MEMORIES”, which is familiar to us, and the vocals overlaid on it are extracted from a super famous recording. “Seventh Star” is an FM sound source from the “Hammersmith performance on June 2, 1986”, “Turn To Stone” without a soundboard is “LAST GIG WITH RAY” from the “Nottingham performance on June 4”, and “Heart Like A Wheel” and “Danger Zone” are FM sound sources from the “San Antonio performance on April 19”. And the lively singing that is unique to the live matches perfectly with the instrumental demo. It sounds as if it was produced with Ray’s vocals from the beginning. Of course, the tempo and arrangement of the demo and live are different, but it is carefully adjusted on a bar-by-bar basis. It is a “demo version by Ray” without any sense of incongruity. In addition, the bonus “+1” recorded at the end of such a work is a special version of “The Shining” produced at the same time as the above “Ray version SEVENTH STAR”. It is a duet version like the third period DEEP PUPRPLE, with Ray and Tony Martin’s vocals matrixed on the official backing. I was surprised because this was unexpectedly cool. The harmony of the two singers with completely different vocal qualities is thick and beautiful, and the ending with a vocal battle is also very thrilling. The backing is highly polished, making it stand out from the demos, and it is a masterpiece track that gives a glimpse of the possibilities of matrix sound sources. This is a treasured studio album that has been polished back to the original, even the official legendary demo album, and also includes additional mash-up tracks that embody the dreams of maniacs. This is the ultimate “Ray Gillan version of THE ETERNAL IDOL/SEVENTH STAR”. This studio album is the “Ray Gillan version of THE ETERNAL IDOL/SEVENTH STAR”. The legendary demo “RAY GILLEN MIX (8 songs)” that was also used in the official deluxe edition has been polished by GRAF ZEPPELIN from the original master, and also includes a mash-up sound source (4 songs) that synchronizes Ray’s vocals with the instrumental demo of “SEVENTH STAR”. In addition, a special version of “The Shining” in which Ray and Tony Martin duet like the third period of Purple is also included as a bonus, making this a major definitive edition that embodies the “studio work of the Ray Gillan era” that ended in an illusion. THE ETERNAL IDOL “RAY GILLEN” MIX reissue project The main 1-7 tracks have been adjusted in volume and normalized to make the sound louder (the waveform is not crushed).
