Description
BLACK SABBATH’s eternal masterpiece “PARANOID”. This is a reproduction of the original sound. The original SABBATH of the 70s, which released a series of historic masterpieces. Among those masterpieces, “PARANOID” was the undisputed masterpiece. This is a miraculous masterpiece that includes the iconic song “Paranoid” and the big three representative songs “War Pigs” and “Iron Man”. The weight of the origin is greater than the debut album “BLACK SABBATH”, and the third album “MASTER OF REALITY” is superior in terms of completion, but it is a historic super masterpiece that does not give up the position of a magnificent masterpiece. This work is the original book of such a definitive album. This album is an album that was meticulously digitized by an overseas audio enthusiast from the first press LP “6360 011” released in 1970 by the Vertigo label in the UK. In addition to the main story, which was as well-received as “BLACK SABBATH: UK ORIGINAL LP”, the US original single “Iron Man” is included as a bonus. [Reprint of the real original sound itself] If you have touched “BLACK SABBATH: UK ORIGINAL LP”, you will know that this work is on a different level from a simple analog transcription. The overseas enthusiast who produced it carefully selected many unopened mint quality records and carefully played the best ones in a high-est environment specialized in “digitalization of analog”. Not only is there not a single needle crack, but the quality is such that there is no distortion of the record or even uneven rotation, and the “sound of the first playback” that was only once is digitized. The quality is exactly “real sound”. It is a miraculous sound that does not have even the slightest noise, despite not having been corrected or corrected at all after digitization. Our shop has delivered everything from “BLACK SABBATH” to “SABBATH BLOODY SABBATH” through this process, but the sound that flows from this work is even more special. In fact, “PARANOID” is a masterpiece and has been reissued many times. Other albums have two versions, the SANCTUARY version in the UK and the RHINO version in the US, but “PARANOID” also has a RHINO SUPER DELUXE version. To briefly introduce the sound, the RHINO version is the most flashy and digital-like. It is the version of the reissued masterpiece “BLACK BOX”. In contrast, the UK SANCTUARY version was popular with enthusiasts for its natural finish. And the SUPER DELUXE version released in 2016 is somewhere in between the two. Although it was produced by RHINO, it was put together with a neat sound close to the SANCTUARY version, perhaps as a reflection on the fact that “BLACK BOX” was too flashy. So, what about the sound of this work, which is an exact reproduction of the first UK LP? In one word, it is a “super natural SANCTUARY version”. Since no post-digital processing has been done, the sound pressure is lower than various current CDs, but the sound hidden there is the ultimate in neatness. For example, the high notes of the guitar sound. The various current remasters emphasize the edge of the high notes, perhaps because of the image of “Sabbath = the origin of metal.” They create a very shrill and dazzling sound. In contrast, this work is simply a “rock sound.” There is no attempt to force the guitar to sound metallic, and the original sound is left as it is. Another key point is the bass drum. In fact, the recording of the bass drum in the “PARANOID” recording sounds cheap, and the outline is not very clear. The current remastered CD sounds like the peak of the percussion has been forcibly raised in an attempt to make it clearer. Even on the relatively natural SANCTUARY version, the bass drum is pushed with a powerful force just before the limiter. In contrast, this work is natural from start to finish. The percussion sounds as in the original recording draw a beautiful peak, and there is no sense of strain in every corner of each hit, and it harmonizes beautifully with the bass and guitar. If you break it down into prime factors, the current remaster is more vivid, but in terms of the overall “band sound”, this work is overwhelmingly more natural. [Permanent preservation version with bonus single recording] In addition to the main feature, this work also includes bonus tracks. The single “Evil Woman” was included in “BLACK SABBATH: UK ORIGINAL LP”, but this work is the single “Iron Man”. The audiophile who produced the main feature reprinted the original US release (Warner Bros. Records 7530). In fact, the worldwide single is “Paranoid”, and “Iron Man” is a North American only single. If you stick to the British original, “Paranoid” would be selected, but this maniac did not make a disc transcription, probably because the essential content is the same as the album take. In that respect, the US version “Iron Man” is a single edit different from the album. The album version is 5:57, while this take is summarized at 3:29. This version was officially released on CD in the RHINO best album “GREATEST HITS 1970-1978”, but it has been remastered in a modern style. This work is a reprint of a rare version with the original sound, just like the main album. BLACK SABBATH’s signature “PARANOID” has been revived with its authentic sound. The first British press LP, which realistically preserved the sympathy and breathing that only existed in London’s “Island Studios”. This is the highest quality version ever. When you think about it, there may have never been a band that was as at the mercy of its image as BLACK SABBATH. The members themselves were just single-mindedly pursuing their own music, but that became the origin of heavy metal and was called the founder of doom rock. And in the remaster produced in later years, that image was strongly reflected. The “view of Sabbath” of the person working on it gets mixed up, and the consciousness of “SABBATH should sound like this” and “They are the origin of heavy metal…” works to “make” it. However, there is not even a micron of room for such “images” to creep into the sound of this work. It is the “real sound” of simply playing a superb unused LP for the first time. You can enjoy the original SABBATH and the sound that the Vertigo label wanted to deliver at the time, exactly as it is. This is the real pleasure of reproducing the first LP.
