Description
The simultaneous revival of two masterpieces that reigned supreme during the “VOL. 4” era has been decided! The highest peak sound that “GRAF ZEPPELIN” has refined has been decided to be reissued and released on a permanent preservation CD!! This work is the first part of such a two-part release. It is a superb audience recording of the “Dayton performance on July 15, 1972”. The two masterpieces of the “VOL. 4 Tour” will be released simultaneously, but in fact, these two works have very different personalities and sets. In order to explain this, let’s first take a bird’s-eye view of the activities at that time and confirm their respective positions. 1972 January 24th – February 24th: UK #1 (20 shows) March 1st – April 2nd: North America #1 (31 shows) (“VOL.4” completed in May) May 7th: Paris performances * July 7th – September 15th: North America #2 (26 shows) ←★here★ (“VOL.4” released on September 25th) 1973 * January 5th – 19th: Oceania (7 shows) * February 15th – March 3rd: Europe (15 shows) ←※BRESCIA 1973 * March 9th – 18th: UK #2 (10 shows) ←※Official LIVE AT LAST August 2nd: Appearance at LONDON MUSIC FESTIVAL (“Bloody Sabbath” produced in September → released in November) December 9th – 17th: UK #3 (4 shows) ※Note: “*” indicates “VOL.4″ Tour”. A historic best recording capturing two extremely rare songs. This is BLACK SABBATH from 1972/1973. From “North America # 2” in the summer of 1972 to “UK # 2” in the spring of 1973 the following year, the “VOL.4 Tour” was released. While the official “LIVE AT LAST” and the simultaneously released “BRESCIA 1973 (Zodiac 798)” were released in 1973 after the album was released, this work is much earlier. It was the fifth performance of the “North America # 2” leg, which had not yet been released even though “VOL.4” was completed. This “early tour” is the biggest point of this work. They are trying out various new songs from “VOL.4” and playing extremely rare songs that would soon be dropped from the set. Let’s organize the historical full set by comparing it with the standard tour sets “BRESCIA 1973” and “LIVE AT LAST”. VOL. 4 (4 songs) Tomorrow’s Dream / Snowblind / Under The Sun (★★) / Wheels Of Confusion (★★) Others (7 songs + α) Black Sabbath: Wicked World Paranoid: War Pigs / Iron Man (★) / Paranoid Master of Reality: Sweet Leaf / Embryo / Children Of The Grave *Note: Songs marked with a “★” were not included in “BRESCIA 1973” or “LIVE AT LAST.” Songs marked with a “★★” are must-listen, extremely rare tracks. …And so it goes. First and foremost, “Wheels Of Confusion” and “Under The Sun” are absolute must-listens. Sabbath had a lot of rare songs from the 70s, but these two are incredibly rare. Both tracks were only recorded twice in the 1970s, and this is their best recording (though the sound quality is a few levels lower, the other performance can be enjoyed on “WHEELS OF CONFUSION” from the Los Angeles concert). Note: “Under the Sun” became a staple after 2012, while “Wheels of Confusion” was only performed three times, even including the reunion era. Both tracks featured different drummers during the reunion era, and the key was significantly lowered, making them sound almost completely different. A supreme sound achieved through GRAF ZEPPELIN’s meticulous mastering. The Dayton recording is the second-best sounding recording of the “VOL. 4 Tour” after “BRESCIA 1973,” and this release represents its pinnacle. Reissued from the premium “50th Anniversary Edition,” this is a masterpiece among masterpieces, refining the existing best “1st Generation Master” with GRAF ZEPPELIN’s meticulous mastering. The hum noise that remained even in the original first-generation master recording has been completely eliminated, and the phase has been dramatically corrected. The sound is brighter and more vibrant, with perfectly centered and stable positioning throughout. While it falls just short of the legendary “BRESCIA 1973,” this album’s quality is “Tour No. 2.” This full-length live album boasts some of the rarest tracks in Sabbath’s history, including “Under the Sun” and “Wheels of Confusion.” This is yet another pinnacle work, surpassing even “BRESCIA 1973” in terms of rarity and importance. Phase correction, complete mono conversion, and perfectly centered positioning ensure stability. Low-frequency hum removal eliminates unpleasant noise. The sound is quite clear, and the bandwidth adjustments have resulted in a slightly brighter sound. The distortion at 0:15 in “Sweet Leaf” has been corrected without sounding unnatural. This is a superb audience recording of the “Dayton concert on July 15, 1972.” This is the best recording, featuring the extremely rare tracks “Wheels of Confusion” and “Under the Sun.” This is a masterpiece, refining the pinnacle of the first generation masters with meticulous mastering by “GRAF ZEPPELIN.” This is the absolute must-have for the “VOL. 4 Tour.” Hara Arena, Dayton, OH, USA 15th July 1972 PERFECT SOUND (58:31) 1.
