Description

From the “PARANOID” tour, where the original BLACK SABBATH performed particularly heavy and powerful performances, two performances from the American tour in March 1971 will be released as a two-disc set that will surprise fans! Following the first leg of the “PARANOID” tour, which lasted for about one month from October 30, 1970 to the end of November, the second leg was held for about two months from mid-February to early April. Masu. This work includes a live performance at the University of North Carolina in Chapel Hill, North Carolina on March 2nd, which is the middle stage, and a performance at Centuries Paramus Theater in Paramus, New Jersey on March 9th. Both stages have been carefully remastered by excellent audience masters and turned into discs. As the title suggests, the biggest feature of this sound source is the early version of “Into The Void”, which will be included in “MASTER OF REALITY”. To date, only four performances of the same song in the 1970s have been confirmed, and the only recordings so far have been performed in Sheffield, England on January 14, 1971, and in Denmark on April 18.・It was only the Copenhagen performance. With this work, the remaining two performances were discovered and made into a sound source at once! Disc 1, the Chapel Hill performance, would not feel strange even if it was released as it is normally…In fact, it is a recording with excellent visibility and direct sound that makes you wonder why it is not normally released. Masu. Above all, the freshness of the sound is wonderful, and anyone who listens to it will be convinced of the quality of Master Direct. The source material for this recording included the unique spinning sound of a reel-to-reel between each song, so the venue obtained the band’s permission and recorded this openly on a reel-to-reel deck. I think it may be the source of the sound. The scene where the opening song “N.I.B.” starts with Iommi’s guitar solo instead of a bass solo is a mood that seems like the band’s early days. “Black Sabbath” also comes with a guitar intro centered on Iommi’s arpeggio, which is typical of this period (different from the ’80s and later) (the last song is also an early arrangement without a four-beat pattern). Following “Iron Man” is finally the big listening spot “Into The Void”! It gives the impression that they are still in the process of refining the song, the lyrics are different, and the performance tempo is a little fast. The image is similar to the “Alternate Version” included as a bonus in “MASTER OF REALITY Deluxe Edition”. It is no surprise that this work, which allows you to listen to the early version of this live with such freshness, sound quality, and power, will appear as a gift title! “Wicked World”, which featured Iommi’s long solo in the second half of the live performance, is also one of the best takes of the same period, and the appearance of this approximately 55-minute recording will provide a sensational topic for all SABBATH fans. Of course! Disc 2 also records about 55 minutes of the live performance in Paramus, New Jersey on March 9, 1971, one week after the Chapel Hill performance. Although it does not have the same sense of scale as the Chapel Hill performance on Disc 1, the outlook and balance are quite good. Furthermore, the sound is calm, cohesive, and stable, making it very easy to listen to (it even feels like a line source rather than an audience recording). This recording is a long recording from the opening scene, and the band’s sound check on stage is vivid and you can check the mood perfectly. The flow of the live performance, which continued with “N.I.B.”, “War Pigs” and “Black Sabbath”, was similar to Chapel Hill, but compared to the torrent-like performance, the performance was more solid, with a doomy swell typical of the early original SABBATH. Makes me feel. “Into The Void” also allows fans to check the band’s performance in detail, and fans will be happy with the sound image that allows them to grasp the band’s ensemble even more than on Disc 1. Although “Wicked World” was not played on this day, you can enjoy the best live performance, including the live highlights “Fairies Wear Boots” and “Paranoid”! “Into The Void” was reevaluated in the ’90s and rose to become a major live staple and SABBATH’s signature song. It’s a masterpiece that shines only when it’s in the flow of the stage, but there have only been four performances by them from the ’70s that were full of the “real” feel. This set of two of these is truly a package that SABBATH enthusiasts are drooling over! Don’t miss out on this chance to get this masterpiece that will become one of the classics among SABBATH enthusiasts in the future! Live at University Of North Carolina, Chapell Hill, NC.
