Description

June 11, 2016, BLACK SABBATH held their final “Donnington performance”. Their breakup tour “THE END” is currently in the middle of the European leg, touring the continent other than the UK. The UK leg is set for February next year, and it seems that it was special because it is a festival that symbolizes the home country. To commemorate this week, we have prepared a super powerful special item. On the same June 11th, 11 years ago, BLACK SABBATH appeared as a headliner at “DOWNLOAD FESTIVAL 2005”, with professional shots leaked from people involved and audience shots using the original master. This is a 2-disc packaged “special edition” set! To begin with, BLACK SABBATH has surprisingly only been to the “Sacred Land of Donnington” three times (2005, 2012, and 2016). What is included in this work is the memorable first episode. Disc 1 includes the multi-camera pro shot video that made all SABBATH enthusiasts astonish and faint when it first appeared! This video, which first appeared in the summer of 2005, immediately after this festival, was greeted with sensational surprises due to its high quality image quality, professional camera work, and editing, and even now, nearly seven years after its release, it is still the “reunion BLACK” video. It has become a classic among fans and is considered the best video in SABBATH. It was known from the beginning that this “Download Festival” would be video-shot, and fans were rumored at the time that it would be released as an official live video. After that, the footage recorded from this live performance was gradually toned down from being an “official live work”, and in the end, only about 3 songs were used in the OZZFEST 10th anniversary compilation DVD. This complete version is this work. In addition to official-level detailed cuts, this video features stunning camera work that gives you a sense of the producer’s commitment, giving you an incredible panoramic feel with the large audience filling the venue. Naturally, it was recorded with a perfect sound board in terms of audio, and the ideal sound quality allows you to fully immerse yourself in everything from the instrument balance of each part to the minute nuances of the sound in the performance. Fans can enjoy the entire 90 minutes without saying anything. The original material is believed to be a copy tape that was leaked during the editing stage (a time counter is always displayed at the top of the screen), and there are some concerns (though only a few) when compared to recent digital materials. It creates an underground mood and is an interesting point that can only be seen as a collector’s item. Surprising points can be seen not only in the video quality but also in the recorded content itself. The video, which starts about 5 minutes before the start of the live show, suddenly captures a scene in which members of the audience are throwing things at each other inside the venue, and the unique mood of a festival seems to ooze out from the screen. The live performance also got off to a rocky start, with the vocals on the opening song “N.I.B.” being a little off, and Ozzy’s condition being in trouble during the following “After Forever.” Fans were unable to predict even the slightest bit ahead. I can’t let go! In the second half of the live show, where “Black Sabbath” is played after “Iron Man” and “Into The Void,” the time distribution is perfect, with the darkness of the night engulfing the venue. The carefully calculated stage production is truly professional! It’s 93 minutes of entertainment that is more than just an official replacement. And Disc 2 includes 90 minutes of high quality audience shots that surprised fans before the professional shots were leaked! This video was shot by Mr. Crazy S., the famous taper. Considering the commotion of the audience that was seen at the beginning of Pro Shot’s live performance, it makes me wonder, “How can you take such a take in that commotion!” All enthusiasts will clearly realize that the skill that left many famous recordings in the 1980s is still alive and well. The liveliness unique to the venue, which cannot be experienced with professional shots, is on full display even before the performance begins! From the intro “Sabbath Medley”, the audience erupted in loud cheers and choruses, and the explosive excitement when Ozzy, Iommi and others appeared on stage was enough to give you goosebumps! I can assure you that this is a video that allows you to experience the ferocity of a band or festival more realistically than any wonderful multi-camera professional shot. “N.I.B.”, whose audio was off at the beginning in the pro shot, can be heard normally here, and it can be seen that it progressed without any trouble at the venue. Ozzy’s performance gradually stabilized after “War Pigs”, and he started to show a performance that did not seem to be affected by the accident that occurred a little before this live, such as jumping around the stage energetically. Of course, the pair of Iommi and Geezer has a solid sense of stability from the beginning, and they continue to play wonderfully with the riffs, backing solos, and solos of each song. Bill Ward also plays drums here and there that belie his temporary health concerns, and in “Dirty Women” and “Fairies Wear Boots,” he fully entertains with his one-of-a-kind SABBATH sound. Furthermore, in the medley of “Symptom Of The Universe”, “Sweet Leaf”, and “Electric Funeral”, which was a highlight of the 2005 live show, the audience was knocked out by the no-questions-asked dignity! Furthermore, the riff of “Sabbath Bloody Sabbath” is featured as an intro to “Paranoid” at the end of the set, and the rare song “Sleeping Village” from the first album is used to introduce the encore “Children Of The Grave”, which shows a deep love for SABBATH. It’s full of ideas that will surprise you as much as a maniac. Of course, the famous song Rush, which encompasses the history of the original SABBATH, will appeal to young fans as well. “Download Festival” turned the huge crowd that filled the venue to the other side, and put on a performance that would make even the heaviest of young bands bow down. This is a commemorative live performance that will be especially noteworthy for the reunion of BLACK SABBATH, with its wave-like attack of spectacle and happenings that will not let the audience rest for a moment. This work, which is set with perfect professional shots and vivid audience shots, is a must-see for any metal fan. To commemorate this “Download Festival”, there is no other item more suitable than this one!
