Description

The ultimate superb stereo soundboard album by the five people who created the eternal masterpiece “HEAVEN AND HELL” is born. The five people are Ronnie James Dio, Tony Iommi, Geezer Butler, Bill Ward, and Jeff Nichols. Yes, the main part of this work is the full soundboard recording of “Hartford performance on August 10, 1980”. Based on the highest peak version, it is a two-disc set that completely covers the existing soundboards of these five people. Some people may say, “Wait, wasn’t Vinny Appice the live of the Ronnie era?”, but in fact, Bill was sitting on a stool during the first half of the “HEAVEN & HELL TOUR”. First of all, let’s look back at the schedule at that time to remember the circumstances. ●1980 {“HEAVEN AND HELL” released on April 25th} ・April 17th – June 26th: Europe #1 (35 shows) ←★here★ ・July 2nd – August 19th: US #1 (29 shows) ←★here★ {Bill disappears -> Vinnie joins} ・August 31st – November 11th: US #2 (42 shows) ・November 16th – 21st: First visit to Japan (6 shows) ・November 24th – 29th: Australia (5 shows) ●1981 ・January 18th – February 2nd: Europe #2 (13 shows) …And so it went. Bill disappeared during a US tour, so Vinnie was quickly found and joined. After that, although Ronnie and Bill returned several times, they never performed together, and in the end, only the total of 64 performances of “Europe #1” and “US #1” of this tour were the only ones that Ronnie & Bill shared the stage with. And this work is a super-decisive edition that covers all three sound boards left from those 64 performances in the highest peak version. Now, let’s introduce each one individually. [Disc 1-2: Full-length version of the Hartford performance on August 10, 1980] The main focus of this work is the one and only full sound board sound source with Ronnie & Bill. This is the highest peak version. This Hartford performance sound board has been known for its short FM broadcast for a long time, and “Heaven and Hell” became the single B-side and was also made official as the deluxe edition of “HEAVEN AND HELL”. They were short, with a maximum of five songs including “Supertzar”, but that changed in 2007. A full-length version before it was mixed for FM broadcast was unearthed. Until then, there were several sound boards after Vinnie’s replacement, but the appearance of the full sound board from the Ronnie & Bill era was a real shock. It became a major staple of the new era that produced many existing works. The best of them all was our “CHILDREN OF THE BLACK DEFINITIVE EDITION”. It was a unique remastering of the excavated master, but it was a super-famous board that realized the highest peak in history, with a clarity far beyond the original sound, a crisp outline down to the finest details, and a sound that did not lose its natural feel. Of course, Ronnie & Bill’s unique apex sound board work was sold out and discontinued while it was very popular. This work is a reprint of that highest peak master. In fact, this sound is still beyond anything. We tried to remaster it again to coincide with this reprint, but there is no room for any further work. Of course, we could have produced a slightly different version, but rather we reprinted the sound that we had once perfected as it was. We only adjusted the noise that had been slightly overlooked. However, there is one major change. That is the disc division. This time, the entire main set of the show is recorded on Disc 1. Only the encores “Paranoid” and “Children Of The Grave” are recorded on Disc 2. This is also due to the increase in volume, which will be described later, but this means that the timing of disc changing has become the part waiting for the encore. In other words, it has realized an experience that is almost exactly like the actual scene. [Disc 2: Cozy Tape from August 1980] The second superb soundboard was excavated from the Cozy tape. This is a tape that Iommi is said to have given as drumming material for Cozy, who joined in 1989. Other than the August recording of “US #1”, the venue and date of the performance are unknown, and even if “Supertzar” is included, it is short with only five songs. However, the sound is transcendent, and it was excavated as “DRAGONS AND KINGS” and shook the shock as “HEAVEN & HELL TOUR’s best desk-direct soundboard”. This is a very rare soundboard that only Iommi and Cozy have heard, but this work is the highest peak version of such a Cozy tape. Not only has it been digitized directly from the actual tape, but it has also been recorded to have a sound that does not feel strange even when listened to consecutively with the main Hartford performance. [Disc 2: Official take of the London performance on May 8, 1980] The third soundboard is one song, “Children Of The Sea”. This was released as the B-side of the official single “Neon Knights” (By the way, the single “Die Young” also included a live performance of “Heaven And Hell”, but this is a take of the Hartford performance. This work contains the full-length version, so it is not adopted). This take itself has also been made into an official CD in the deluxe edition of “HEAVEN AND HELL”, but this work is different. The official CD is covered in noise, whether the condition of the analog record used is poor or the work of transcription is sloppy. In contrast, this work is the highest peak version that has been meticulously digitized from the first Japanese single at that time. The cheering part, which was edited shortly in Dela Eddy, is also recorded in its original form. The five members of Ronnie, Iommi, Geezer, Bill and Jeff, who created the great masterpiece “HEAVEN AND HELL” but never revived again, are the only soundboard “all” editions. The Hartford performance alone, where you can enjoy a full show with the ensemble of the historic masterpiece itself, is a cultural heritage, but it is also one that allows you to complete all three existing types with the highest quality in history. This is the “top” for listening and collection. The live version of “HEAVEN AND HELL” that does not exist any more.
