Description
“SABBATH BLOODY SABBATH TOUR” is an unexplored area where there are almost no famous recordings even though it is at its peak. The highest peak of this is an exquisite audience recording. What is engraved in this work is “November 7, 1974 Brisbane performance”. It is a full audience recording that conveys the whole story. “VOL.4 TOUR” masterpiece “DEFINITIVE BRESCIA 1973” has appeared, and “SABOTAGE TOUR” miracle album “LONG BEACH ARENA 1975: MIKE MILLARD MASTER CASSETTES”. The mid-1970s, which had been said to be a barren period for audience recording, was suddenly enriched. This work is a famous recording that is said to be “the best” by enthusiasts even in “SABBATH BLOODY SABBATH TOUR”, which is between these two works. Before introducing the contents, first let’s talk about the show’s position. Let’s take a look back at the Bloody Sabbath era, which Tony Iommi calls “my best work.” August 2nd, 1973: Performed at LONDON MUSIC FESTIVAL [“Bloody Sabbath” released on December 1st], December 9th-19th: UK #1 (4 performances) January 1st-19th, 1974 : Europe (8 performances) ・January 31st – February 25th: North America (23 performances) ・April 6th: CALIFORNIA JAM I appearance ・May 17th – June 9th: UK #2 (14 performances)・November 5th-16th: Australia (8 performances) ←★Here★ This is a panoramic view of “SABBATH BLOODY SABBATH TOUR”. The symbol of this era is their appearance on “CALIFORNIA JAM I”, but in the final edition they held an Australian tour entitled “BRITISH ROCK ‘N’ ROLL MONTH TOUR”. The Brisbane performance of this work was the second concert. This work recorded at such a show is truly a tour No. 1 work. Why can we say that this work is “No.1”? There are reasons for both sound and length. First, the length. It may come as a surprise, but this 5th tour is the first time Sabbath has held a full-scale concert. Up until then, only one CD’s worth of records had been recorded, but from this point on, two-disc sets of records began to appear. However, not all of the 5th tours were long shows, and only four remain as records that exceeded 80 minutes (that is, 2-disc size). Let’s clean things up a bit here. ・February 21: Providence performance “PROVIDENCE 1974 DAN LAMPINSKI MASTER” ・November 7: Brisbane performance ←★This work★ ・November 10: Sydney performance (with a cut to Paranoid) ・November 12: Melbourne performance (The sound quality is the best right now) These are the four songs above. Of these, the Providence performance and Sydney performance are two-disc sets, but there are cuts and they are not complete recordings. What remains is the Brisbane performance or the Melbourne performance, but the Brisbane recording is the best due to the sound difference here. In fact, the sound is exquisite. Unlike “DEFINITIVE BRESCIA 1973” and “LONG BEACH ARENA 1975”, it is a vintage audience, but the powerful core approaches and the details are vivid. It is a famous recording that is much easier to listen to than other audience recordings, as well as the California Jam soundboard, which is a symbol of the 5th tour. Moreover, this work is its highest peak. Although the previously released group is a well-known recording, this work was made into a CD directly from the 1st Gene Master excavated in recent years. It is a wonderful masterpiece with a freshness that feels as if it was recorded yesterday. What is depicted with such sound is the wonderful world of “SABBATH BLOODY SABBATH TOUR”. This tour is basically a minor change of “VOL.4 TOUR”. To make it easier to understand, let’s organize it by comparing it with the famous “LIVE AT LAST”.・PARANOID: War Pigs/Iron Man (★)/Paranoid ・MASTER OF REALITY: Sweet Leaf/Embryo/Children Of The Grave ・VOL.4: Tomorrow’s Dream/Snowblind/Supernaut ・SABBATH BLOODY SABBATH: Killing Yourself To Live/Sabbra Cadabra (★)/Sabbra Cadabra (reprise) (★)・SABOTAGE: Megalomania (★) *Note: Songs marked with “★” cannot be heard on “LIVE AT LAST”. …and it looks like this. There is also a revival of “Iron Man”, but the biggest difference from “VOL.4 TOUR” is the jam time in the latter half of the show. The theme song up until “VOL.4 TOUR” was “Wicked World”, but “Sabbra Cadabra” was the theme song for “SABBATH BLOODY SABBATH TOUR” and “SABOTAGE TOUR”. Furthermore, the 5th tour was the only configuration in which “Sabbra Cadabra” was reprized. The characteristics of such a set could be heard at California Jam, but what was different about the longer show was the jam time in the second half. On the 5th tour, the difference in duration may have been adjusted by the length of the jam, and in this work, the “Sabbra Cadabra” medley alone is over 45 minutes (!). In between, each person’s solo and “Supernaut” and “Iron Man” are included, but the highlight of this work is the initial version of “Megalomania”. It feels like some of it will be included in the jam, but instead of an instrumental, Ozzy will also sing the tentative lyrics. Of course, this work is the best recording of “SABBATH BLOODY SABBATH TOUR”, so this valuable version “Megalomania” is also the best. Up until now, “VOL.4 TOUR” / “SABBATH BLOODY SABBATH TOUR” / “SABOTAGE TOUR” has been said to be the era of extinction of famous recordings, but with the appearance of “DEFINITIVE BRESCIA 1973” and “LONG BEACH ARENA 1975”, that common sense has changed. has collapsed. “DEFINITIVE BRESCIA 1973” and “LONG BEACH ARENA 1975” are each transcendent musical works, but in order to experience “Sabbath history”, you need the time between them. This work is a two-disc set that is perfect for that. The highest peak of “SABBATH BLOODY SABBATH TOUR”, which remains the only unexplored area.
