Description

Washington, D.C. in 1964, which is said to be the best footage of the Beatles’ live performance. Initially, due to the deterioration of the so-called Kineko version that was recorded on film, the charm of the performance and video could not be conveyed, and if anything, it was a live video that was not talked about much even among enthusiasts. However, the situation changed after the original video version of “BEATLES ANTHOLOGY” was discovered. Furthermore, the finale “Long Tall Sally”, which was not seen in the film, was also discovered. Then, 10 years ago, a full-length version was suddenly released, and it instantly became the Beatles’ best live video. Its release ten years ago had a huge impact on enthusiasts around the world, and a large number of items based on it were created. Even at the time, these images showed the limits of the video compression technology available at the time, but even so, the ease of viewing the original video images made them a huge bestseller. In fact, it has become quite a standard. That being said, in the era of HD quality, it is hard to ignore the roughness of the compressed video from 10 years ago, and while they are thrilled to finally be able to watch it, many enthusiasts are saying, “I wish I could watch it in better condition.” That’s what I was thinking. The upper version video recorded on the DVD “WASHINGTON COLISEUM 1964” released two years ago has made such maniacs stop drinking. However, it still did not reach the level of smooth image quality of “BEATLES ANTHOLOGY,” but the image quality was clearly improved compared to the previous version, and it also included standard live footage, so it passed in no time. Sold Out. A further version of the video footage of Washington DC, which went through such twists and turns, was released about a year ago. As it was released with the latest technology, the image quality is clearly even higher than the version from 10 years ago, as well as the DVD “WASHINGTON COLISEUM 1964”. This time, the latest version has been remastered and released. What is noteworthy is its image quality. Finally, you can now enjoy the famous live video with image quality comparable to the version recorded in “BEATLES ANTHOLOGY”. In past versions, the scenery reflected in the back of the stage, including the audience, tended to be rough, but this time, that unsightliness has been completely eliminated. In the exciting scene of “I Want To Hold Your Hand” at the end of the live performance, it is clear that the audience around the stage is singing along (= proof that they can hear the performance). Moreover, the members’ movements are suddenly smooth, and even the texture of the suits they wear and the texture of the microphone stand are realistic. And while it’s easy to get caught up in the live footage of the Beatles’ passionate performances, including Ringo’s bizarre hyper drumming, the dilemma is that the camera angles are actually monotonous. Due to the position where the video camera was installed, it was impossible to capture the members’ faces in close-up, and instead the surrounding audience was shown in close-up. In addition, from “Please Please Me” onwards, the frequency of angles that capture the Beatles’ stage with Hiki increases. In the first place, it would be no good to just take the easily available upper version and turn it into a DVD. Therefore, for this release, we have inserted film footage from different angles, which have been left in fragments from news footage, into several scenes. With this editing, you can enjoy the Beatles’ stage appearance or the previous “Please Please Me” in a more timeless manner. The appeal of these newsreel footage is that they generally capture the members in close-up rather than the actual video footage, but most importantly, the appearance of the video footage at the beginning of “She Loves You” has created a buzz among enthusiasts. You can even see a close-up of the “audience recording girl” in the audience seats, which became a big topic of conversation. This is really interesting. Coupled with such a masterpiece Beatles live video is Melbourne, which is also a classic live video from 1964. This is also attractive for its clearness recorded with a video camera, and unlike Washington, it quickly became popular after the VHS era arrived. The image quality was sufficiently easy to see since that time, but the best version became popular 10 years ago. But that is all in the past now. As expected, a version (PAL master) in better condition is currently on the market, and this time we remastered it based on that. As enthusiasts know, in this video, the video record button is pressed at the end of the opening song “I Saw Her Standing There,” and then there is a tape change (or pause) in the middle of “Till There Was You,” and George’s “I Saw Her Standing There.” Filming resumed at the end of “Roll Over Beethoven”. The version from 10 years ago was a pseudo-complete recording by dubbing the radio sound source from the same stage and supplementing the cut parts with stills. This time, the footage was recorded as is, without any such editing. On top of that, the two songs seen in “BEATLES ANTHOLOGY” were replaced with those versions. With this editing, “All My Loving” is an “ANTHOLOGY” take until George starts harmonizing, and after that it switches to the full-length version of this time, but there is almost no sense of discomfort. This part alone will give you a feel for the upper of the version released this time. Also, the camera angles are much more sophisticated than those in Washington and are worth seeing. It is no wonder that Brian Epstein was so impressed with the finished video that he allowed it to be broadcast for a longer time than originally agreed. The result is the strongest combination of high-quality Beatles live footage from the first half of 1964, and both videos are highly satisfying in terms of both image quality and performance content. In order to captivate the nation, Washington DC put on a hyper performance centered on Ringo with all his heart and soul. It was held after he had gained popularity in the United States and had even finished filming his first leading role in a movie, and Melbourne now has the air of a king. This video is also a live performance that was held at the end of the tour, in which Ringo had fallen ill the day before the tour started, and Jimmy Nichol was hired to replace him, and Ringo finally made a comeback and the fans were jubilant. Coincidentally, it can also be said that it was coupled with a live video where he has a great presence. Both videos are recorded in the best image quality and condition, and I would like to recommend this collection of Beatles’ best 1964 live footage to all rock fans. Please enjoy it in your room. Based on the upgraded footage of “WASHINGTON COLISEUM 1964”, it has been newly remastered by a fan and released on the internet, the highest quality definitive edition at the moment. Compared to the previously released version, the image quality has improved to the point where you can clearly see the texture of the cloth of the suit and the texture of the microphone stand in the close-up scenes. The bonus Melbourne performance recorded here is a unique remaster of the original version of this disc, using a PAL master that is a different branch from the Channel 9 Master internet source, and replacing the parts recorded in Anthology with that. Contains sources. In the previously released version, the video is choppy in scenes with a lot of movement, such as Can’t Buy Me Love, but this time we went back to the PAL source and converted it accurately again, so the movement is smooth.
