Description
“Whiskey Flat is a mysterious venue, so the mystery is good!” has been said for half a century, and by 2010, it seemed to have been settled that this wonderful performance and recording was a Philadelphia performance. However, since the video and sound source cannot be completely synchronized, the sound source still has a sense of mystery. As far back as 1970, Walrus Records released it under the name of The Four Liverpudlians, as a light-blocking record that turns color when held up to the light, under the name ALIVE AT LAST. A few months later, TMOQ released IN CONCERT AT WHISKEY FLAT using a different tape, which became a best-seller in the early bootleg industry. After that, the tape source was circulated among traders 40 years later, and an FM station in Philadelphia broadcast it on FM to commemorate the 40th anniversary (however, due to the poor stereo broadcast and the DJ’s repeated talking, this broadcast was not widely released on disc and distributed). The source used for the 2021 remaster this time is a recording that was stored by an American live recording collector in 2017 for the release of a public domain record. It has a higher sound pressure (no distortion) and is very easy to listen to compared to previous versions. In releasing this work, we checked a considerable number of the same recordings, but we could not find any with better sound quality, and we remastered it because we thought that an upgrade was no longer possible. In addition, we recorded a ripped version from Walrus Records, which first saw this live performance in 1970. As expected, the sound source of this record is better in terms of the freshness of the nose difference tape. There is a scratch noise due to the fate of being engraved on the record, but I would still like you to listen and compare it, as I thought that the freshness is superior by a nose difference. The balance between the quality of the Beatles’ performance, the good recording condition, and the enthusiastic cheers is wonderful, and Whiskey Flat, which many people probably consider to be a masterpiece and a famous recording more than the officially released Hollywood Bowl, is a blissful time to listen to the latest recording and the oldest recording.
