Description

Of course, we will release the upgrade CD going back to “VOL.0”, but of course we will also release the sequel this time. “VOL.3” covers the latter part of the album “BEATLES FOR SALE” session to the album “HELP!”. It is a compilation of the recording sessions from the time when the band exploded in popularity in the United States and had the familiarity of an idol image. However, for this release, the contents of the original “THE COMPLETE RECORDING SESSIONS” series produced by coltturkey have been completely reviewed. It has been reborn with a more upper feel than the previous two volumes. The first disc cuts the sound source of the 1964 Christmas record that is not a performance, and the session sound sources of “She’s A Woman”, “I Feel Fine”, and “Yes It Is” have been replaced with a more natural master jedi version from the coltturkey version, which had a strong equalization feeling. In particular, the performance of “She’s A Woman” take 7, which exceeded 6 minutes, is one of the great performances in the history of Beatles sessions. The rough mix of “Ticket To Ride” take 2, famous for its lack of fade-out, has long been known to have problems such as rough sound and slow pitch, but here it is not only recorded with accurate pitch, but also has improved clarity through equalization. And “I Need You” and “Another Girl”, which starts with John’s count, are additional recordings from the so-called production acetate sound source, which overlap with our hit release “LAST LACQUERS”, but this one has been added to remove the acetate noise by equalization and to organize the chronology of the session. And as a bonus part on the first disc, a fan-made mix of the vocal tracks singled using the 5.1 sound of the movie “HELP!” is recorded together. Especially in “The Night Before”, Paul’s best R&B voice can be enjoyed with the vivid singing of the single track. The second disc is devoted entirely to the session scenery of the album “HELP!”. Here too, the contents of the Coltturkey version have been thoroughly re-examined, and mixes without overdubs (such as “MINUS ONE”) that fans have made and uploaded to the Internet in recent years have been used to get a closer look at the details of the sessions. For example, “I’ve Just Seen A Face” and “Yesterday” take 2 without strings, as well as “Wait” recorded during the sessions for this album, are versions made by fans that were finished at a more basic stage of recording, making the content much more substantial as a document that follows the progress of the sessions in more detail. As you can see from the fact that “Wait” recorded at this time was shelved for a time, the “HELP!” sessions were also sessions that produced more rejected songs than any previous Beatles session. The most famous of these is “That Means A Lot”. It captures how the sessions only got more and more chaotic, even though they abandoned a track that was once almost complete and tried to re-arrange it from scratch. Speaking of session recordings, it is common to repeat takes until the master of the song with the final arrangement is recorded, but it is really interesting to have a session where the arrangement is changed while recording. On the other hand, the title song of the album, “Help!”, is captured as a performance of the completed arrangement, which was simply repeated without vocals, but this time the decoration was not as straightforward. First of all, John’s vocal track was different in mono and stereo, and further vocals were added for the version used in the movie, and this time it was re-recorded in a movie studio. The re-recorded version was used in the black and white performance scene of the song that plays at the beginning of the movie in 1965, but at the same time, the audio of the video (the so-called dartless version) that was broadcast as a promo before it was included in the movie is recorded here. Unlike the movie version, the point is that there is no sound of the projector playing at the end, and the song ends cleanly. Nowadays, whether it’s the movie or the dartless version, the audio tends to be replaced with the regular mix, so it’s also a big point that you can hear this vocal re-recorded version with clean audio. A feature of this version is that George’s voice stands out a lot in the intro compared to the regular version. And the bonus of this disc includes the original mono audio of the “HELP!” movie. There have been items that recorded the original audio before, but here we have achieved a very clear recording using a recording of the legendary original audio broadcast realized in our country. This can be called the hidden highlight of this release. Many of the session audio sources that made full use of multiple sound sources across the two discs are included, and for example, “She’s A Woman” take 2 is the longest recording despite only a slight difference. This is the culmination of the Beatles sessions from late 1964 to early 1965, delivered with thorough content. Disc 1 (78:03) 01. Eight Days A Week [Edit of Takes 1+2] 02.
