The Beatles Anthology, which chronologically traces the history of The Beatles from before their formation to their breakup with rare sound sources and live performances, was released in 1995 as a documentary project consisting of video footage, books, and a trilogy of albums. The trilogy of albums mainly includes numerous studio outtakes, demo recordings, existing TV broadcasts and live concert recordings, and also includes new songs “Free as a Bird” and “Real Love” based on recordings left by John Lennon, which attracted worldwide attention. Three types of 2CDs were released in succession from VOL.1 to VOL.3, and included previously unknown first-time recordings and unreleased songs, which shocked Beatles collectors at the time and attracted their attention. CD1 records the highlights from the “Get Back Sessions” in chronological order, where the band reaffirmed their unity as a band by recording the production process of new songs through filming, covering oldies numbers that returned to their roots, and developing relaxed and rough performances. The latest stereo remaster editing has been applied, including the sound source at Twickenham Studios in the first half of the session, which was previously only mono, being made into stereo, and the sound source at Apple Studios in the second half being recorded for longer than before. CD2 contains all the songs from the “Rooftop Concert” at the Apple Building, which has attracted new attention due to the film adaptation. You can listen to the alternate version, which is edited from multiple sound sources different from the one released, and has a different stereo mix sound image. In the second half, the session recordings from “Abbey Road”, which was the last album produced chronologically, are included. This also includes different sound sources from the previous ones, such as studio chat before the performance and long endings, and is the sixth and final installment of the anthology series that records the band’s final footsteps until their breakup.
