Description
The soundboard live performance of the analog edition of Budwiser Concert Hour by the Bar-Keys, who were famous as a super S-class funk band at this time rather than as a leading figure of the Memphis sound, is the best performance that captures the heyday! The title track of the 1982 album, Propositions, explodes in funkness, and Hit And Run is played with some of my favorite tunes, and the heavy funk live version of Banging The Wall’s opening number, Your Plce Or Mine, is cool. Vocalist Larry Dodson sounds like Prince on 4 Times! He performs by having the band play the sound four times. Sexomatic takes Prince’s Minneapolis funk and makes it his own, while chanting Rock Master Scott and the Dynamics Three’s The Roof Is On Fire before Prince sings it on his parade tour. We’re on fire, we don’t need water, keep on burning!) We’re playing Freakshow On The Dancefloor, an exciting live show full of funk.
