Description
BADLANDS is the legendary hard rock band formed by Jake E. Lee and Ray Gillan. The transcendental stereo sound board album has been brushed up and reprinted. BADLANDS was the ultimate band that truly embodied the extremes of “hard rock for experts.” Formed by a former OZZY OSBOURNE guitarist and a former BLACK SABBATH singer and drummer, this super group was welcomed with a bang in 1989 along with BLUE MURDER and Mr.BIG. Not only his appearance, but also the actual music is authentic. While breathing in the atmosphere of the blues return era, they never turned to monotonous and pretentious blues rock. Their debut album, “BADLANDS,” is full of catchy hooks, but they have written a group of masterpieces that are not pop-worthy, and are decorated with Jake’s top-notch scratchy guitar and Ray’s passionate vocals. However, unfortunately (perhaps because the band members didn’t care), they were not blessed with commercial success, and disappeared into the darkness of history after only releasing two albums (at the time) and a few live performances. . Although he did not officially leave a live album, this work is suitable for such an “official replacement”… No, it is an even more intense soundboard recording. This work includes a whopping four performances. However, the exact date and time are unknown. It is a mysterious live album where only the place names “Cleveland”, “Detroit”, “Dayton” and “Du Coin” are known. “I don’t know/I don’t know” But what is the point, so let’s first try to find out the position of the show within the progress as far as we know. [“BADLANDS” released on May 11th] ・June 13th-19th: Japan (6 performances) ・July 6th: Boston performance ・July 23rd-August 15th: North America #1 (16 performances)・August 21st – December 8th: North America #2 (62 performances) ←? Here?・December 14th: Mexico performance [Transcendental soundboard leaked by related parties] This is 1989, when BADLANDS made their shocking debut. The same can be said for BLUE MURDER, but there are too many unknowns about their activities that were not successful worldwide. Please note that there are some ambiguities in the materials above, so please consider this to be a general flow. Among them, there is a high possibility that the 4 performances of this work will be “North America #2” which was the opening act of GREAT WHITE & TESLA (However, since “North America #1” also goes to Cleveland and the suburbs of Detroit, it is not certain after all… ). Still, there is a reason why I was able to recognize it just from the name of the place. In fact, this work is a leaked cassette brought to us via a person involved at the time. Only the place name was written on the label. In any case, this work, which recorded such four performances, is a truly intense and harsh stereo sound board. I often write “official grade” as a superlative compliment, but although the quality of this work is official grade, the sound is even more amazing. Even the enthusiasm of a large audience (great enthusiasm) can be heard in the distance with a sound board directly connected to the table, and the direct feeling is transcendent. The drums are so elastic that the skin bounces off the sticks, and the guitars and basses are so straight-forward that you can see the vibrating strings right in front of your eyes. Although it is said to be the same super quality, if it is an FM broadcast or an official work, the whole thing will be prepared and the venue will be excited, but there is no such neatness with the sound board that is directly connected to the table. The mix for output to the on-site PA is rough, with the performance sound exposed and the switching changes suddenly, and the stereo sound is powerful, delivering it from one end of the venue to the other. For example, when the guitar pans left and right in the “Dancing On The Edge” intro, it makes your brain spin around. Such a transcendental sound board has been loved as Shades label’s “LOST IN A SHADOW”, but this work is a further brush-up of that super masterpiece. It has been digitized again from the cassettes of those involved and has been further polished with the latest mastering. Having said that, “LOST IN A SHADOW” is also a masterpiece that squeezes out the flavor of the original cassette, so it is not “completely different”. The direct connection feeling of the sound board directly connected to the desk is the same as in the previous work, but the left and right stereo feeling, which was a little too biased in the previous work, has been balanced, allowing you to enjoy the wide feeling more accurately. Furthermore, we adjusted the sound pressure and volume, which had been inconsistent during the four performances, and pursued the perfection of the two-disc live album. [A scorching live performance that embodies the extreme north of hard rock] This closeness and rawness that goes beyond the official version suits BADLANDS perfectly. As mentioned above, their music is more about the raw passion of the performers than the beauty of symmetry. The ensemble is perfectly synchronized with the scratching guitar, and the direct soundboard that allows the passionate singing voice to sound directly in your head makes the ensemble stand out. The improvisation time “Guitar & Vocal” will also be performed at each performance, but speaking of the mellowness of the flexible and raw blues… From then until now, Jake maintains the stance that “music is the only thing that matters (than success),” but his impromptu friendship with Ray, who shares his stoic spirit. Of course, the drumming of Eric Singer, who supported the backbone of BLACK SABBATH along with Ray, is the same as in KISS, and Greg Chaisson’s bass is also bangin’ bangin’. This is already easily surpassing even that masterpiece “BADLANDS”. Of course, not only the improvisation but also the songs are super hot. All songs are occupied by debut numbers, and the four performances are very similar since they are on the same tour. But it’s not exactly the same either. Let’s keep it simple here… ●Common to all 4 performances (5 songs) “Hard Driver,” “Ball And Chain,” “Devil’s Stomp,” “Dreams In The Dark,” “Winter’s Call” ●Dayton performance only (2 songs) “Streets Cry Freedom” “Jade’s Song” ●Dayton Other than the performance (one song) “High Wire”… and this is what it looks like. Only the Dayton performance on Disk 2 has a different set, and you can enjoy 25 takes of 8 songs of “BADLANDS” that exploded with stage tension on a transcendental stereo sound board. BADLANDS’ activities continued until 1992, but the initial impulse was burnt out in 1989 when Eric Singer was a member. Although it is a shame that they did not leave an official live album, even if it had been realized, it would not have surpassed this work…It is a stereo sound board connected directly to the table that is so transcendent that I want to declare that. This is a two-disc set that updates the highest peak. “The ultimate live album” where the growling voice turns into a deep breath like an expert who’s taste of hard rock has soaked into his bones.
