Description
BADLANDS, formed by Jake E. Lee with former BLACK SABBATH members Ray Gillan and Eric Singer, released their first album “BADLANDS” in May 1989. Their musical sound, which was full of the hard rock sound directly connected to the early ’70s and the richness of blues, and gave a deep groove, was a strong influence on the rock scene at the time, which was returning from L.A. metal to blues. They made an impact and attracted the attention of fans as a “professional band” that was even more popular than their contemporaries Mr. BIG and BLUE MURDER. Their stage debut was in Japan, where Jake has close ties, and six performances were held, starting with the Nakano Sun Plaza performance on June 13, 1989, and ending with the Tokyo Postal Savings Hall performance on June 19. . This work “LORD KNOWS” is a direct recording of the 5th performance at Tokyo’s Nakano Sunplaza performance (second day) on June 18th from the original cassette master, which was unknown even among traders. Recorded on record. The sound, which combines a realistic sense of presence and a satisfying listen to the performance, is one of the best on BADLANDS’ Japan tour, and is still highly praised by enthusiasts. “ROCK STEADY”, which includes the hall performance, is recorded with the same taper as the original sound source). In addition to the reliable outlook of the master direct, the sound image that completely envelopes the heat and mood of the venue with a moderate sense of distance has built an ideal sound from the opening “Hard Driver”. This tone creates a chemical reaction with the band’s passionate performance, and the more you listen to “Ball & Chain” and “Dancing On The Edge,” the more the unique flavor of live tapes comes out! I’m glad that their performance is easy to listen to, and the grooves they emit from the stage have an intensity that reminds me of their ancestors’ 70’s hard rock songs such as LED ZEPPELIN. Jake, who is at the center of this, plays the guitar freely in each song, playing the unique intros of “Dancing On The Edge” and “Winter’s Call”, as well as the solo of “Rumblin’ Train”, with his superb guitar playing throughout. Let me listen to it. When compared to songs like “THE FIRST LIVE” (Langley), which includes the first day’s performance held at the same Nakano Sunplaza, it seems that the band members have regained their ability on stage after playing four live shows until this one. So, you can see that the ensemble has become even stronger. The powerful performances of “Devil’s Stomp”, “Dreams In The Dark”, and the title “Load Knows” are sure to knock out the listener. Ray Gillan’s vocals, which are endlessly powerful and soulful, are also wonderful, and “High Wire”, which dramatically decorates the climax of the live performance, is the best! Listeners will be immersed in the band’s passionate performance until the last encore song, RARE EARTH’s cover “GET READY”! This work is a must-listen not only for Jake’s fans but also for ’70s hard rock fans, as it allows you to relive the BADLANDS live show, which had a solid rock sound that made even the most connoisseurs groan. .
