Description
From the original Asia and Yes joint live in the summer of 2009, which was exactly “A Midsummer Night’s Dream”, this outdoor live performance at Six Flags Great Adventure in Jackson, New Jersey on July 26th at the end of the North American tour was recorded. Both bands were completely recorded with the highest level of audience recording, which is the best sound quality that will surprise you again with the amazing recording technology of recent times. In addition, Disc 3 records the live performance of Yes on this day with a high-quality audience shot. On this day, Asia plays a full one-hour show, but the typhoon is approaching, so the 50-minute short set show of all five songs is forced in a hurry. Asia on Disc 1 is just a perfect sound. Both Wetton and Carl will greatly fascinate the listener with their powerful performance. However, on this day, due to concerns about the weather, Howe’s performance was a little out of his mind, and it is unfortunate that he is not as energetic as the other three. The acoustic versions of The Smile Has Left Your Eyes and Don’t Cry are moving (though it’s a shame that there is a slight scratching sound on the microphone). Fanfare For The Common Man is particularly great, with a roaring bass including Wetton’s solo, an organ and guitar exchange, and a powerful drum solo as always, making for a powerful performance. With this, all four of them, including Howe, play the last two songs Sole Survivor and Heat Of The Moment with a hot performance, which is very satisfying to the listener. The guitar riff of Heat Of The Moment is loud and moving, the solo in the second half is also very original. Reading the report on the day, it seems that Yes had a considerable amount of time before taking the stage, and during that time, there was probably a discussion about what to do about the show with the typhoon approaching. When Yes appeared on stage, the performance was surprisingly firm, and you can enjoy a stable performance as usual on stage. (As you can see from the DVD, at the beginning, Yes did not use the full lighting in the venue due to a problem with the power system.) After playing two songs, Chris introduced new members Oliver and Benoit, and said Tempus Fugit from the album “Drama”, but stopped here. When Chris explained that “the power system was in a dangerous state”, the audience booed and roared. It’s more interesting to see this part on the third DVD, but suddenly Howe raised his right hand and shouted angrily, “That, my friends, is death!! That is death to a guitarist!!” and disappeared from the stage. After a while, Howe came back with his guitar hanging (lol) and said, “We’re going to take a break until the electrical system problem is solved,” and MC, … (Venoit is in the middle) After that, the camera shows the sky, and although it is not raining, you can see lightning flashing many times. I don’t know how long the show was interrupted, but the show starts again when it is already dark. The band plays Tempus Fugit and Astral Traveler. Immediately after, a venue official appears on stage and explains that the show will be interrupted because a typhoon is approaching. The audience is in a frenzy, but Chris calms them down with an adult MC and says in a fluster, “I wish I could do something instead next time,” and just before the intro to Roundabout, Howe says, “I’ll tell the promoter” (laughs). After that, this short live show full of accidents ends with Roundabout. Yes’ live show can be enjoyed on both a super high-quality CD and a high-quality audience shot DVD. A recommended set that collectors will love, where you can enjoy a unique live show. Live at North Star Arena, Six Flags Great Adventure, Jackson, NJ.
