Description

40 years ago, ASIA showed the new possibilities of progressive rock. A famous recording that symbolizes their debut in 1982 has been brushed up. It is now available on a sound CD polished by meticulous mastering by “GRAF ZEPPELIN”. This work is engraved with the “April 29, 1982 Boston performance”. It is the legendary superb audience recording. At that time, ASIA sent “Eijikan: Romance to Time” to No. 1 in the United States, and as soon as it appeared, it caused a huge shock in the scene. First of all, let’s look back on the schedule at that time. {March 8th release of “AISA”} ・April 22nd-May 30th: North America #1 (32 performances) ←★Here★ ・June 11th-July 10th: North America #2 (22 performances) ←※DEFINITIVE HOFFMAN ESTATES ・October 5th-28th: Europe (15 performances) ←※DRAGON FLEW OVER GERMANY This is ASIA in 1982. Although masterpieces such as “DEFINITIVE HOFFMAN ESTATES” and “DRAGON FLEW OVER GERMANY” have gained popularity, the Boston performance of this work is much earlier than those. It was the 7th performance of “North America #1”, which was the beginning of the tour. [1982’s iconic live album revived with meticulous mastering] This show is famous above all for the superb recordings. It has long been known as the pinnacle of 1982, but the basis of this work is the original master of that famous recording. It is an upgraded version of the “DRAGON MASTER” that once took the world by storm. Of course, this is not a copy reissue. The original master has been re-polished by “GRAF ZEPPELIN” with meticulous mastering. It is the ultimate specification that updates the highest peak. The sound is certainly the best ever. As we have introduced in many titles so far, “GRAF ZEPPELIN”‘s method is not to process it into a random artificial sound, but to correct and correct it faithfully to the basics with extraordinary precision, and to reproduce the “sound of the scene”. Therefore, not everything is a big deal, and in the case of a deteriorated master, it will be “It’s like a completely different thing!”, but if it is of high quality to begin with, it will only be a slight improvement. Of course, it would be better to advertise it as “It’s like a completely different thing!”, but we have discarded that perspective and polished it with the same value as the school festival and painting repair work. And in the case of this work, it is the latter. Since the original is super high quality, it is hard to say “It’s like a completely different thing!”, but the precision is the highest peak suitable for permanent preservation. Needless to say, the correction of pitch and phase shift is done, and the aesthetic of “stopping just short” is maintained while processing very slight noise, correcting balance by band analysis, and processing hiss and hum beautifully, without affecting the performance sound itself. In this sense, the biggest point this time is “stereo correction”. In the case of vintage sound sources recorded on analog cassettes, the left and right channels are not in the same state. The balance between the left and right may be disturbed, and there are often cases where one channel skips for a moment or the sound drops. It feels like the balance is disturbed for a moment when you listen to it, but this work pursues and corrects that level. In some places, the momentary volume change is corrected, and the same note is patched in other places. Different methods are used depending on the different conditions in each place, and the entire show is beautifully done. The sound is depicted in the early great performances, which can be said to be “the romance of the time of live performance”. Let’s organize the set here. Romance to Time (9 songs) Time Again/One Step Closer/Without You/Only Time Will Tell/Cutting It Fine/Wildest Dreams/Here Comes The Feeling/Sole Survivor/Heat Of The Moment Others Alpha: Midnight Sun/The Smile Has Left Your Eyes Howe’s solo time: The Ancient (Giants Under the Sun)/Clap [Significantly upgraded “The Man With The Golden Arm” sound source] This is a live album of cultural heritage, but this work also includes bonus sound sources. As with “DRAGON MASTER”, the audience recording of “April 25, 1982 Pittsburgh performance” is also included. This show is a very early record of the fourth tour performance, which dates back further than the main Boston performance, and is a representative sound source of the rare song “The Man With The Golden Arm” that was not performed in the main part. It is also a symbolic recording that was adopted as part of the box “QUADRA”, but of course this work is not a copy of “QUADRA”, but “GRAF ZEPPELIN” has polished the “DRAGON MASTER” master and preserved it forever. And the sound is “greatly transformed”. This sound source does not reach the main Boston recording, but that is why there is a lot of room for growth. The sound that was processed harshly in the previous edition is much more natural, while the hum noise that was harsh on the ears has been greatly reduced. It would be a lie to say that it is “indistinguishable from the Boston recording!”, but it is the highest peak version that has been significantly upgraded from the previous edition “DRAGON MASTER” and is preserved forever. It is the very early days of the seventh performance since the super group appeared. A famous recording that allows you to enjoy the extremely fresh show with the best sound, and the precious “The Man With The Golden Arm” only available in the early days is also a delicious bonus sound source. Both of them are the best in history. A CD that will leave the ultimate polished sound forever. Remastering Memo: The main part was originally a superb recording, so there has been almost no significant processing that would change the overall color. In addition to correcting some parts that had a band down (such as the right ch of the third song on the previous edition at 5:34), some band corrections and a slight review of the left and right volume balance have been made. The bonus April 25th performance part has been significantly remastered. It should be much easier to hear due to the reduction of hum noise, phase correction, and EQ correction (suppressing noisy bands). This is a superb audience recording of the “April 29, 1982 Boston performance”. This is a legendary recording that has long symbolized 1982, and is the highest peak update board in which “GRAF ZEPPELIN” has polished up the original master known as “DRAGON MASTER”. Pitch, phase, and band analysis are all about rice cake theory, and the mastering, which carefully corrects the momentary sound drop of one channel, is at the level of repairing a cultural asset. This is a major cultural heritage-class decision board that also includes the representative sound source of the extremely rare song “The Man With The Golden Arm”, “April 25th Pittsburgh Performance”.
