Description
In the early days of European jazz, bassist Arild Andersen was one of the “Scandinavian Big 4” along with Jan Garbarek, Terje Rypidal, and John Christensen. The starting point of his activities was his own early quartet, which included John Balke on piano, Poul Thorssen on drums, and Juhani Aaltonen on saxophone and flute. This item has been recorded on a super high quality soundboard for 80 minutes, coupling the performances of his own performances in Hamburg, Germany on May 22, 1976 and Berlin, Germany on March 7, 1977! (There are some parts of the Hamburg performance where noise is generated due to the master.)
