Arild Andersen/Norway 2015 Complete

The ECM label, which remains unaffected by trends and pursues the “most beautiful sound next to silence” as per the belief of owner-producer Manfred Eicher, continues to produce high-quality works without wavering even today, and has become a rare entity that has gone from being a heretic to being considered orthodox, with many fans all over the world. It is no exaggeration to say that the activities of the “Nordic Four” Jan Garbarek, Terje Rypdal, Arild Andersen, and Jon Christensen, who were called the “Nordic Four” in the early days of ECM, played an important role in determining the path of ECM thereafter. The four are still alive and well today and continue to be as exciting as ever. One of these musicians, bassist/composer Arild Andersen, is still going strong, with no hint of defensiveness whatsoever. The first and second shows of his special concert to celebrate his 70th birthday, held in his home country of Norway, Oslo, on October 24, 2015, are now available for the first time as a two-disc set, recorded in full for over two hours, including the encore, on a superb high-quality soundboard that has been carefully remastered by the label itself!
