Description

A vintage video series of Fresno from the 1970s that has become a hot topic among collectors with its many shocking videos. Just when you thought the shock was starting to wear off after so many shots, here is a shocking video that appears. The main character of this work is ANGEL, a famous band that was all the rage in the 1970s. Yes, that’s ANGEL, who just announced his return to Japan for the first time in 43 years. This work seems to have appeared for Japanese fans, but it was filmed at the “Fresno performance on May 10, 1978.” This is the shocking audience shot. Their first visit to Japan left an unprecedented legend that the promoter ran away at night and 2 out of 8 performances were canceled, but this work is about 1 year and 3 months later. It was an act of “WHITE HOT TOUR”. First of all, let’s explore the show’s position from the schedule at that time. [“WHITE HOT” released on January 3rd]・February 22nd – May 14th: North America #1 (30 performances)←★Here★・June 27th: Santa Monica performance・August 26th: SPUERJAM’ 78 appearances ・October 19: Oakland performance ・November 24-December 18: North America #2 (8 performances) [Shocking quality like a professional shot] This is ANGEL in 1978. I don’t want you to believe in the exact number of performances as the band lacks detailed information, but I think you can understand the general flow. They released “WHITE HOT” at the beginning of the year and started a tour, but it ended after about 3 months. Although we held a mini tour at the end of the year, full-scale activities did not begin until early spring. The Fresno performance of this work was the final concert of such a tour “North America #1”. This work, which records such a show, is one of the special works in the Fresno video series, which is full of shocking works. I’ll leave the characteristics of the series to the explanation of other works, but this work’s zoom is especially amazing. I can tell from the angle that the photo was taken from the front of the stage, but there are so many zooms that I can’t see any more detailed positions. What’s more, strangely, his viewpoint is high, almost the same as the members on stage. Although I wrote it as an “audience shot” as per the series’ convention, the scene seems to be just one angle of a professional shot. There is widespread speculation that this Fresno video series may be a shot by a person involved, but this work is by far the most “pro-shot-like” work. [The real shock is the show itself with plenty of production] The quality alone is shocking, but what’s even more powerful is the content. The mere fact that it’s a “moving ANGEL” is amazing, but you can also experience the legendary stage production on-site. There are many highlights from the opening scene. Following the solemn sound effects, a solemn baritone speaker (Archangel Gabriel?) introduces the members, and each one emerges from an empty magic box. Apparently it was the same performance on his first visit to Japan, and you can witness the legendary scene that has been passed down by word of mouth. After that, you can enjoy their original pop and light rock with “Tower”, “On the Rocks” and “Don’t Leave Me Lonely”, but after that, a surprising production appears again. As the fanfare rings out, the object that rises up is the familiar object from the jacket of his debut album and “HELLUVA BAND.” However, the face in the center is not an expert, but a human. Again, in a solemn voice, he asks the audience, “Do you feel the music?” The mechanism itself seems to be an ancestor of IRON MAIDEN, but the mood is reminiscent of “Flash Gordon” or “Space Mission”…a retro-future science fiction world suddenly appears. . Furthermore, although the video depicts delicious numbers such as “Over And Over” and “Got Love If You Want It”, Greg Geoffria’s keyboard solo is more than that. Dressed in white with his chest exposed, he struggled against a wall of synthesizers like Keith Emerson, but halfway through he brought out a shoulder keyboard. Unfortunately, I can’t fully witness the solo time, but I can thoroughly enjoy the sight of him performing a flashy solo. It’s amazing anyway. The Fresno video series has been shocking one by one, but the quality and show content of this work are too amazing. Considering the weight of rock history, I think the best masterpiece will be handed over to the KISS edition “FRESNO 1979 THE VIDEO (Shades 1154)” released at the same time, but this work exceeds the impact of Zoom’s powerful and outlandish production. The fun of this is not dependent on whether you are an ANGEL fan or not. A shocking video that everyone who loves 70’s rock should experience. This is a song that will make you want to rush to the performance in Japan in April of this year. Live at Warnors Theater, Fresno, CA, USA 10th May 1978 AMAZING SHOT!!!! 1. Introduction 2. Tower 3.
