This is Ana Popovic’s latest live recording. Soundboard recording. Her attractiveness is her robust blues guitar, just as she looks, but this live performance is funky and soulful. The opening instrumental on disc 1, which is a typical blues live performance where the backing band warms up the venue and then the master makes his entrance, is 70’s funk itself. Jeremy Thomas’ organ is very effective. The bass is also very lively and full of energy, so it’s a double thumbs up. The way she sings and plays with that band backing her up is like Freddie King. This live performance is not so much blues as it is a slightly urban funky blues.
