Description
With the death of Gregg Allman at the age of 69 in May 2017, four of the six original Allman Brothers members are no longer with the band, bringing another chapter in the history of Southern Rock to an end. In tribute to Gregg, we present here two CDs of Duane’s great performances. This is a master quality, soundboard recording of the band’s performance on the first day of the legendary “Atlanta Pop Festival” held in Byron, Georgia from July 3rd to 5th, 1970. While Jimi Hendrix’s performance, who also appeared, was a hot topic, Allman also gave a great performance. Although it is not complete because it is a broadcast recording, the rare “Every Hungry Woman” is included, and the high-tension twin guitar exchanges between Duane and Dickey Betts are must-listen.
