Description
On April 16, 2017, news of the death of Allan Holdsworth, whose unique playing style influenced many musicians, including Van Halen, arrived. As a memorial item for this great guitarist, the show at the Roppongi Pit Inn on May 6, 2002, was recorded in 104 minutes in a miraculous soundboard-level audience recording, which was a miraculous achievement at the time. First of all, this Japan tour with the same trio members as the legendary first visit to Japan also released the official live album “ALL NIGHT WRONG”, but the official version recorded the performance on the previous day, and of course, the cut songs “Texas”, “Letters Of Marque”, “Leave’em On” and “Shallow Sea” are also included, and it is a delight for fans to be able to listen to all of them with official bootleg-level sound. Also noteworthy is that Holdsworth was said to have been in a bad mood and was in poor health that day, and there were many moments of hesitation, especially in the improvisation parts, where Jimmy Johnson and Chad Wackerman’s long solos connected the short solos with unnatural breaths. Nevertheless, from around the middle of the album, “Funnels,” he gradually regained his form, and although he made some mistakes, it was also rare to hear his desperate playing. Therefore, it is interesting to compare it with the official version from the previous day, when he was in top form, and the vocal-less version of “The Things You See” is also interesting, and this collector’s edition is a must-listen for fans.
