Description
“WELCOME TO MY NIGHTMARE TOUR” was Alice Cooper’s first solo performance and the peak of her career. The super-excellent multi-camera pro shot has been decided to be released. This work is engraved with the 1975 classic movie “WELCOME TO MY NIGHTMARE.” Emperor Eien’s masterpiece “Welcome to the Nightmare” was a concept album, but at the same time it was also a soundtrack album linked to the TV movie “THE NIGHTMARE.” And, that tour was a huge explosion of theatricality that far exceeded the era of THE ALICE COOPER GROUP. It caused a huge sensation. Among them, “September 11 + 12, 1975: Wembley Arena Performance” was made into the concert film “WELCOME TO MY NIGHTMARE” and can still be enjoyed on the official DVD. However, this work is not the official DVD, but the Japan Broadcasting version that was aired by a certain satellite broadcasting station. This program is a digital broadcast in recent years called “Western Music Live Legend.” Therefore, the quality is absolutely perfect. Since it is broadcast and recorded without any analogue transmission, there is no deterioration at all. That is the quality that is no different from the official DVD. However, this is only the broadcast version. At the beginning, there will be a unique corner explaining the Emperor’s career and the background of the show, and there will also be Japanese subtitles for Vincent Price’s narration and Alice’s MC. Such unique corners are well done, but what is amazing is “WELCOME TO MY NIGHTMARE TOUR” itself. It’s a good opportunity, so this time I’ll be covering everything from “solo independence” to “separation from Bob Ezrin.” Let me introduce the situation at that time. ●1975 [“Welcome to the Nightmare” released on March 11th] “WELCOME TO MY NIGHTMARE TOUR” March 21st – July 27th: North America #1 (74 performances) August 31st – September 17th: Europe (13 performances) ←★Coco★・December 13th-18th: North America #2 (6 performances)●1976 [“Going to Hell” released on June 25th]・August 17th: New York performance ●March 14th – April 4th, 1977: Oceania (12 performances) ““Lace and Whiskey” released on April 29th 》“KING OF THE SILVER SCREEN TOUR”・June 16th – August 30th: North America #3 (38 performances)《December “Live!! Alice Cooper Show” released》 ●1978 “SCHOOL’S OUT FOR SUMMER TOUR”・April 27th -September 2nd: North America #4 (27 performances) This is the golden era that can be called the “first solo period”. Three albums have been announced: “Welcome to the Nightmare,” “Go to Hell,” and “Race and Whiskey,” but the tours are not linked, and “Welcome to the Nightmare” and “Go to Hell” are collectively known as “WELCOME TO MY.” NIGHTMARE TOUR” (“I Never Cry” was added after the release of “Go to Hell”). Most of them were in North America, but the Wembley performance of this work was one of the few exceptions. This is the 9th and 10th performance of the “European” tour, which was the only one in the “first solo period”. And the show is truly a horror rock musical. Alice still uses dancers and performers, but this tour is on a completely different level. The band was lined up in the back and was treated like a black child, just playing Alice on stage. A number of characters act as Alice’s opponents, including a spider, a one-eyed giant Cyclops, a glowing skeleton, and a beautiful woman, Esil. Alice dances, is cornered, fights back, and laments as she sings some of the most famous songs in rock history. Climb up the spider web and jump out of the giant box… I don’t have time to list them all, but if I had to pick one, it would be “Escape.” When a cemetery is projected on the stage screen, Alice wakes up from a nightmare and is chased by monsters who appear from nowhere after smashing her own grave marker and become trapped in a coffin. She breaks open the coffin and escapes, but the screen turns into a slit, and the image changes to the real Alice! After that, the monsters and Alice repeatedly enter and exit the screen, and in the end, Alice, captured by the monsters, disappears into the screen. The screen and action are incredibly synchronized, and even without the music, it’s a first-class stage play, and the songs match perfectly. Moreover, this is just one of the performances. There have been many performances in rock history, but this elaborate and highly complete performance is unprecedented. Although modern mechanical technology is more advanced, the manpower in this work surpasses even that. It is truly a rock musical that shines in music history. I am overwhelmed by the amazing production, but of course the performance is also wonderful. A variety of musicians participated in the famous album “Welcome to the Nightmare”, but the five core members were all present on stage. In particular, the golden twin of Dick Wagner and Steve Hunter is exquisite. Especially during “Devil’s Food”, they came out to the front of the stage and engaged in a heated battle. You can hear plenty of combinations reminiscent of Lou Reed’s “ROCK ‘N’ ROLL ANIMAL.” “WELCOME TO MY NIGHTMARE TOUR” is an evolution of shock rock that has reached the level of a musical. Furthermore, even without directing, the performances of the first generation solo members, who are referred to as THE ALICE COOPER GROUP, are too great. This is definitely the heyday of Emperor Alice. It is a rare masterpiece that allows you to witness the whole picture with super-excellent multi-camera professional shots.
