Description

In the late 1970s, Alice Cooper parted ways with her staff member Bob Ezrin and broke new ground with her masterpiece “The Closed World”. Introducing the super best soundboard album that surpasses the official one. What is engraved in this work, which surpasses even the official work, is “April 9, 1979 San Diego Performance”. It is the super best stereo sound board recording. In 1978, Emperor Alice’s alcohol dependence became serious and she was admitted to a mental hospital. Based on my experiences there, I will create a concept album, “Closed World.” This album is Alice’s first since her breakup with producer/songwriter Bob Ezrin, who was her right-hand man since her major debut, and is also known as Alice’s truly independent work. While retaining the theatricality and horror feel of the film, new producer David Foster’s pop sensibilities were largely introduced. In terms of lyrics, Bernie Taupin, who is said to be Elton John’s alter ego, was used to write the lyrics, and it was a truly refreshing work. The Emperor begins his tour with the “Closed World” in tow. This work is a live album known as the only stereo sound board on such “MAD HOUSE ROCK TOUR”. Let’s take a look at the schedule as well. ●1978 “SCHOOL’S OUT FOR SUMMER TOUR”・April 27th – May 11th: North America #1 (10 performances)・June 20th – July 9th: North America #2 (14 performances)・July 28th Sun/August 25th/September 2nd: North America #3 (3 performances)《“Closed World” released on November 17th》 ●1979 “MAD HOUSE ROCK TOUR”・February 11th-March 6th Sunday: North America #4 (17 performances) March 29th – April 18th: North America #5 (14 performances) ←★Coco★ April 29th: North America #3 (1 performance) This is Imperial Alice’s 1978 /1979. The 1978 live was “SCHOOL’S OUT FOR SUMMER TOUR” accompanying “THE ALICE COOPER SHOW”, and “MAD HOUSE ROCK TOUR” was in 1979 when the year changed. The San Diego performance of this work was the 7th concert of “North America #5” in the middle. This show was officially filmed and made into a work called “THE STRANGE CASE OF ALICE COOPER”. It is now available on DVD. However, this official work was the problem. The video is as beautiful as the official version, but the audio is terrible. It’s flat, the stereo effect is weak, and above all, it’s sparse. It was like a failed air check recording, and the sound was poor and official. Moreover, the sound has not been improved even when it was made into a DVD, and it remains unsatisfactory even now. Of course, many fans have accepted it as “this kind of thing” for many years, but mania is different. After seeking higher sound quality, we finally found a radio broadcast with a higher quality than the official one. This work is a coupling of two types of such super-excellent FM sound boards. Now, let’s introduce each of them. [Disc 1: STUDIO JAM broadcast version sound board] The first thing that appears is the FM sound board, which is the very best. This is the version broadcast on “STUDIO JAM RADIO NETWORK”. The name caused some misunderstanding and it was circulated as a studio session, but it is a concert broadcast that includes both the audience and the DJ. However, the quality is clear that you want to think of it as a studio session. It’s a pre-FM master before broadcasting, and it’s absolutely official. There is actually an official DVD “THE STRANGE CASE OF ALICE COOPER”, but it is not comparable at all. On the contrary, it is a perfect sound that is equal to or better than the traditional official live “THE ALICE COOPER SHOW”. It is truly an ultra-excellent sound board that is “beyond official”. However, even though the quality was impeccable, the content was not perfect. Five songs from the official DVD containing the complete show: “Only Women Bleed,” “No More Mr. Nice Guy,” “How You Gonna See Me Now?,” “Ballad Of Dwight Fry,” and “Inmates (We’re All Crazy)” The order of the songs has been changed significantly. However, the value of the ultra-superb soundboard of over 50 minutes is unwavering, and the joy of listening to the new songs from the masterpiece “Closed World” with its quality is irreplaceable. Five songs will be performed: “From The Inside,” “Serious,” “The Quiet Room,” “Wish I Were Born In Beverly Hills,” and “Nurse Rozetta,” but “The Quiet Room” is particularly valuable. In recent years, Alice has been weaving in revival classics little by little, but this song is only “MAD HOUSE ROCK TOUR”. This work is exactly the one and only sound board of the highest peak. [Disc 2: KBFH broadcast version soundboard] Next comes another broadcast of the same show. This is the broadcast version of the famous program “KING BISCUIT FLOWER HOUR”. This is a very famous program that has been widely known for a long time, and is a classic that has produced many previous episodes. This disc is the highest peak among them. In fact, last year, the prestigious “JEMS” discovered the reel master of KBFH broadcasting and became a hot topic among enthusiasts, but this master exceeded even such a shocking discovery (by far). Of course, the crappy official DVD audio doesn’t compare either. However, the feel is a little different from the “STUDIO JAM version” on Disc 1. It is a sound that brings out the core of the performance sound and singing voice, and the vividness, dynamic stereo feeling, and close contact are amazing than the ringing. If Disc 1 is the “official masterpiece” type, this is the type that you would want to call a “direct-to-table sound board.” Although their individuality is different, both types have a quality that is “beyond official”. And it is a shame that this is not a complete recording. “Only Women Bleed,” “No More Mr. Nice Guy,” and “How You Gonna See Me Now?”, which can’t be heard on Disc 1, are included, but “The Black Widow” is not included, and “School’s Out” is also recorded by the band. This is an edited version with the introduction cut. However, this “How You Gonna See Me Now?” is huge. It is a major representative song from the masterpiece “Closed World”, which was also cut as a single, but it was only performed on this tour and has not been played since. Moreover, this result is very tasteful. In fact, “MAD HOUSE ROCK TOUR” is known for its uniqueness in another sense as well. That is Alice’s singing voice. He sings normally on the previous and subsequent tours, but on this tour he sings as if he has abandoned the melody, and it almost becomes a narration. While other songs often don’t have such a good effect, “How You Gonna See Me Now?” has a narrative style that miraculously fits perfectly, creating an exquisite sense of sustenance and melancholy. You can enjoy the exquisite version of the famous ballad that cannot be enjoyed in any other era with the highest sound. It’s been a long time since I’ve been able to touch the guitar of new member Davey Johnston, which I really should talk about. To that extent, the key to this work is the ultra-super quality. Should I say “beyond official” or should I say “this is how official should be”? In any case, it is a definitive edition that combines two types of the highest FM broadcasts that far surpass the official DVD. Even if both broadcasts are combined, “Ballad Of Dwight Fry” and “Inmates (We’re All Crazy)” are not enough, but it is a masterpiece of a super stereo sound board with excellent quality, value, and listening response. For those who underestimated “MAD HOUSE ROCK TOUR” in “THE STRANGE CASE OF ALICE COOPER”, this is a book that you should definitely try and be surprised by.
