Description
The legendary soundboard recording featuring the ultra-rare track “Kicked In The Teeth” has been upgraded. This masterpiece has been released on CD from newly discovered reel masters. This release captures the “San Francisco performance on September 3, 1977,” a stereo soundboard recording made at the legendary club “Old Waldorf.” 1977 is remembered as the year of their masterpiece “LET THERE BE ROCK,” but after the album’s release, there was a change in the band members, with Mark Evans being replaced by Cliff Williams. It was a period when the members varied depending on the timing. To understand this, let’s first take a look at the band’s activities at the time and then consider the position of this release.・January 7th – February 15th: Australia (16 shows) ・February 18th – March 20th: UK (25 shows) 《March 21st ‘LET THERE BE ROCK’ released》 ・April 5th – 29th: Europe #1 (16 shows) 《May: Mark Evans leaves → Cliff Williams joins》 ・June 1st: Sydney show ・July 1st + 2nd: Sydney (2 shows) ・July 27th – September 7th: North America #1 (28 shows) ←★HERE★ ・September 12th – November 12th: Europe #2 (39 shows) ←※LONDON 1977 ・November 16th – December 21st: North America #2 (21 shows) ←※Official ATLANTIC STUDIOS Finally unearthed from the original reel master, this is official-quality sound. This is AC/DC in 1977. Back then, tours sometimes spanned across years, but the “LET THERE BE ROCK Tour” ended within 1977. The following year, 1978, saw the restart of the “POWERAGE Tour.” The Old Waldorf performance featured in this release was the 27th show of “North America #1.” This concert took place three months before the live album “LIVE FROM THE ATLANTIC STUDIOS,” which was included in the official box set. While soundboard recordings of such shows have long been a staple, this release features a new master that significantly elevates the quality. It’s a masterpiece that was directly digitized from a reel-to-reel soundboard master that was only recently made public. In fact, the sound is shocking. At the start, there’s the usual strong hiss, but the thick, powerful sound of the performance drowns it out. Moreover, the sound improves as the tape progresses, and by the third track, “Up To My Neck In You,” the hiss has disappeared. It becomes an official-quality sound that rivals even the official “LIVE FROM THE ATLANTIC STUDIOS.” A show packed with extremely rare tracks, including the one and only “Kicked In The Teeth,” captured on the original reel sound, this stage is dizzying with its incredible rarity. As mentioned earlier, the official “LIVE FROM THE ATLANTIC STUDIOS” is symbolic of live performances from this period, so let’s organize it while comparing it. High Voltage (1 song + 3 songs) – Australian version: Baby, Please Don’t Go (★) – World version (T.N.T.): Live Wire / The Jack / High Voltage Others (3 songs + 2 songs) – Rock Soul: Hell Ain’t A Bad Place To Be / Whole Lotta Rosie / Problem Child – Powerage: Up To My Neck In You (★) / Kicked In The Teeth (★★) *Note: “★” indicates a song not included in the official “LIVE FROM THE ATLANTIC STUDIOS” version. “★★” in particular is the only existing record. …and so on. While the Australian version of “Baby, Please Don’t Go” from “HIGH VOLTAGE” is certainly desirable, even more impressive are “Up To My Neck In You” and “Kicked In The Teeth,” performed prior to the making of “POWERAGE”! Both songs are extremely rare, having only been played at this time while Bon Scott was still alive. Although “Up To My Neck In You” was revived in 2001, this recording of “Kicked In The Teeth” is a one-of-a-kind record. The officially released “LIVE FROM THE ATLANTIC STUDIOS” in 1997 was shocking, but this release is the next shocking master after 30 years. This miraculously unearthed reel master allows you to enjoy the extremely rare “Baby Please Don’t Go,” the ultra-rare “Up To My Neck In You,” and the ultimate rare “Kicked In The Teeth” in completely official-quality sound. This is a stereo soundboard recording of the “Old Waldorf concert on September 3, 1977.” This is a top-of-the-line updated version, directly digitized from newly discovered reel masters, and features a set full of extremely rare tracks, including “Kicked In The Teeth” and “Up To My Neck In You,” which were only performed during Bon Scott’s lifetime, as well as “Baby Please Don’t Go.” This is truly a miraculous, absolute live album.
