Pat Metheny Side-Eye III/Netherlands 07.12.2026

On July 12, 2026, Pat Metheny’s “SIDE-EYE III+” appeared at the North Sea Jazz Festival in Rotterdam, Netherlands. This is a must-see live recording featuring a special set that is different from a regular hall performance, made possible by the limited stage time of a jazz festival. The show opens with the marching percussion of “WALK ON,” immediately electrifying the venue, followed by “IN ON IT.” Then, it continues with “BRIGHT SIZE LIFE” from the 1976 masterpiece “Bright Size Life,” a bold opening that instantly connects the new SIDE-EYE with Metheny’s origins. Furthermore, in addition to songs from his latest album “Side-Eye III+”, such as “DON’T LOOK DOWN,” “MAKE A NEW WORLD,” and “URBAN AND WESTERN,” he generously performed popular songs from his Pat Metheny Group days, including “FIRST CIRCLE,” “SONG FOR BILBAO,” and “ARE YOU GOING WITH ME?”. While alternating between old and new songs, the flow was completely seamless, creating a setlist that condensed 50 years of Metheny’s musical history into a single night’s performance. With its condensed selection of songs unique to a festival, the dynamism of the latest SIDE-EYE III+, and an overwhelming development that races through his career from its early days to the present, this is a live recording that represents the 2026 European tour and will make you want to listen to it to the very end, even if you’re not a Metheny fan.
