Description
A collection of memorabilia from the West Coast, where unknown masters have been brought into the world one after another. The latest release is a two-and-a-half hour soundboard album that can be called a sequel to the traditional edition “LOTUS”. What is engraved in this work is “Hartford performance on August 17, 1973”. This is a stereo soundboard recording. If you have been paying attention to this article, you may know that the source of this series is the treasured archive left behind by a core collector from the West Coast who passed away several years ago. They were released one by one by the renowned excavator “JEMS”, and in 1973 alone, masterpieces such as “PROVIDENCE 1973 SOUNDBOARD”, “SAO PAULO 1973 SOUNDBOARD”, and “SALT LAKE CITY 1973 SOUNDBOARD” continued. This work is the latest installment in that lineage. Before getting into the sound you’re interested in, first let’s look at the show position. Along with the aforementioned masterpieces, let’s organize the collection based on an overview of activities at the time. 1972 January 1st + 28th: North America #1 (2 performances) September 4th to October 30th: North America #2 (16 performances) [“CARAVANSERAI” released on October 11th] November 4th to December 5th: Europe #1 (25 performances) ← *GOTHENBURG 1972 and others ・December 9th to 17th: North America #3 (5 performances) 1973 ・January 18th to April 8th / June 21st: North America #4 (48 performances) ← *SALT LAKE CITY 1973 ・June 27th to July 19th: Asia (16 performances) ← *Official LOTUS 《July 20th “LOVE DEVOTION” SURRENDER” released》・July 23rd to August 8th: Oceania (12 performances)・August 12th to September 14th: North America #5 (24 performances)←★Here★・September 21st to October 21st: Central and South America (21 performances)←※SAO PAULO 1973 [“WELCOME” released on November 9th]・November 13th to December 12th: Europe #2 (27 performances)・December 31st: San Francisco performance A different dimension mix directly connected to the on-site PA that surpasses its sister works This is SANTANA in 1972/1973. “GOTHENBURG 1972 SOUNDBOARD”, which was released at the same time, was before the first visit to Japan where the traditional edition “LOTUS” was carved, but the Hartford performance of this work was about a month and a half later. This is the 4th performance of “North America #5”, just two days after the masterpiece “PROVIDENCE 1973 SOUNDBOARD” (after 2 performances). Perhaps because it is so close, the sound of this work is exactly like “PROVIDENCE 1973”. The highest quality sound even when directly connected to a mix table with full vividness. The cheers were pushed far back, leaving only Carlos’ guitar and percussion group standing in front of me. The bare sound image, without any adjustment or make-up, flows directly into the back of your ears. However, if you listen to them side by side, this work is better. First of all, the atmosphere is clear and transparent, and the contours of each note are even more vivid. What’s especially noteworthy is the wide stereo sound; on “Japan,” the keyboard swirls around in an impossible width, stirring your brain. It’s not a balance prepared for viewing, but a different-dimensional feeling that was created because it was a mix to create an on-site PA, and this is an incredibly pleasurable feeling. Even more impressive is the sense of stability. In “PROVIDENCE 1973”, when the scene where everyone charges at Fortissimo all at once, the sound is bundled into a roaring sound, which was a tremendous amount of heat, but this work does not collapse even in such a situation. Each instrument maintains its outline and is beautifully powerful. Even when a large household is playing at full blast, you can see the three-dimensional feel and details of the ensemble to the very end. An ultra-long soundboard that lasts over two and a half hours. What is depicted in such a different dimension mix is the long stage in North America in 1973, which brought the heat of “LOTUS” back to its home country. Let’s organize the set here. Legend of the Lotus ・Japan/Um-Um-Um/Batukada/Xibaba (She-Ba-Ba)/Castillos de Arena, Pt. 1 (Sand Castle)/Free Angela/Mr. Udo (*)/The Creator Has A Master Plan (*) Others ・Heavenly Guardian: Black Magic Woman-Gypsy Queen/Oye Como Va/Se A Cabo/Samba Pa Ti (*)/Incident At Nashabur (*)・Welcome: Yours Is The Light/Mantra/Samba De Sausalito/Light Of Life・Others: (Going Home/A-1 Funk) Every Step Of The Way/Bambele/Stone Flower/Waiting/Flor De Canela (★)/Savor (*)/Toussaint L’Overture (*) *Note: Songs marked with “★” are not included in the official “LOTUS: COMPLETE EDITION”. The songs marked with an asterisk (*) were songs that could not be heard on the sister album “PROVIDENCE 1973 SOUNDBOARD” from two days ago. …and it looks like this. The album opens with “Going Home/A-1 Funk” and “Every Step Of The Way,” followed by “Japan,” “Um-Um-Um,” “Batukada,” “Xibaba (She-Ba-Ba),” “Castillos de Arena,” and “Free Angela,” all of which form the backbone of “LOTUS.” Then, a group of new songs from “WELCOME” come in, and even “Flor De Canela”, which was not heard on the official “LOTUS: COMPLETE EDITION”, pops out. The biggest songs above all are the six songs marked with an asterisk. “PROVIDENCE 1973” did not include 6 songs after “Mr. Udo”, but this work has the future clearly engraved. From “Mr. Udo”, named after a Japanese showman, to “The Creator Has A Master Plan”. Furthermore, you can follow the path to the end without interruption, until you boil the venue with “Savor” and “Toussaint L’Overture” and conclude with “Samba Pa Ti” and “Incident At Nashabur”. What kind of sound was the band potential that made that famous album “LOTUS” sound at home? This is a 2-disc set where you can enjoy the answer in its entirety with a long recording of over 2 and a half hours. A new masterpiece from the memorabilia collection that goes beyond the scenery shown by “PROVIDENCE 1973” with a different dimension mix directly connected to the on-site PA. Stereo soundboard recording of “August 17, 1973 Hartford Performance”. This is the latest edition of the Relics Collection, and while the sound is very similar to “PROVIDENCE 1973 SOUNDBOARD” from two days ago, this work goes one step further. The atmosphere is clear and transparent, and the outline of each note stands out vividly. Moreover, it is a different dimension mix that can only be used for on-site PA, and in “Japan”, the keyboard turns with an impossible width and the wide stereo sound that stirs your brain is also a pleasure. This is a super long live album that lasts two and a half hours and includes six songs after “Mr. Udo” that were not included in “PROVIDENCE 1973”.
