Description
The Paramount Quartet, led by Joe Lovano, continues to perform well. This is a coveted two-disc set that allows fans to listen to the July 2026 live concert held in San Sebastian, Spain in the highest official sound quality. Lovano’s rich tone and free phrasing intertwine with Julian Large’s delicate yet bold guitar, and the more the four perform, the more the music takes an unpredictable turn. The tension and thrill that can only be found in a live performance is condensed in the way the performance suddenly increases in intensity from a quiet moment. The dialogue between Lovano and Julian Large is especially enjoyable to listen to. The greatest charm of this work is the moment when two people of different generations and instruments instantly pick up on each other’s sounds and create new phrases.
