Description

A 4-disc DVD collection containing valuable pro-shot live footage of the Pat Metheny Group from 1980 to 2005! It is a rich content that allows you to enjoy stages spanning about 25 years, from the Hamburg, Germany performance in 1980, known as the early PMG performance, to the 1993 “Secret Story Tour” Warsaw performance, 2002 Vienne, France, and the 2005 Montreal Jazz Festival. A collection that allows you to trace the evolution of the band’s sound and lineup from the young Pat Metheny in 1980 to 2005, when he reached maturity as a world-famous jazz guitarist. This is a must-see 4-disc set for Pat Metheny fans, where you can fully enjoy interplay with famous players from each era, including the famous duo with Lyle Mays. Below are the details of each disc at the time of sale. Disc 1 Pat Metheny Group professional shot live video now available in high quality widescreen version using broadcast master! July 10, 2005 Montreal Jazz Festival, the last day of a series of tours that embody PMG’s masterpiece “The Way Up”, which is highly regarded as the greatest masterpiece in history, can be enjoyed in the best video and sound quality. The album opens with Pat’s solo, and once all the members have been assembled, the main part of the concept album continues to evolve. The band enters the final stage with classic numbers such as “James” and “Follow Me” mixed with the “present tense” version of “Loan Jack” from PMG First. The flow is similar to the previous Japanese performance, but the stage performance by gorgeous musicians unique to festivals is refreshing. The recording time is 68 minutes in professional format with menu chapters. Montreal Jazz Festival, July 10th 2005 The Way Up (edited) Introduction (Live version) Part.1 Part.2 Part.3 James Are You Going With Me? Last Train Home Minuano (six-eight) Approx 68min Disc 2 Contains the Pat Metheny Group’s live performance at the Vienne Jazz festival from their 2002 “Speaking Of Now” Tour. It is also known that Richard Bona, who was not the original bassist, participated in the tour during this period, and since this live show was also broadcast footage, it seems that it has already been released, but for some reason, nothing proper has ever been released. It was as if the band had fallen into an air pocket, but it has finally been released as a DVD. The Japanese performance of this tour has been released on DVD, but the biggest highlight is that it includes “Bright Size Life” by the trio of Pat Metheny, Antonio Sanchez, and Richard Bona, which unfortunately was not included (this is famous on Youtube). Unfortunately, it is not a complete live recording as it is a broadcast video, but the hard-edged “The Roots Of Coincidence”, “Are You Going With Me?” which starts with a Picasso guitar with a changed arrangement, numbers from “Speaking Of Now”, and especially “The Gathering Sky” are performances that will draw you in. After this tour, the Pat Metheny Group will essentially take a break until “THE WAY UP” in 2005, but the live performance of the past masterpieces was not performed there, so the live performances of this period are now valuable. This is a must-see video that every fan would have wanted to see. Theater Antique de Vienne, France 3rd July 2002 1. Proof 2. As It Is 3. How Insensitive 4. The Gathering Sky 5. Disc 3 From Pat Metheny’s 1993 “Secret Story” tour, a must-see DVD with professional shots of the Warsaw performance on 5/30 is now available. “Secret Story” is famous as the masterpiece among Metheny’s works, and this is a valuable video item that conveys the whole story of the tour that was carried out with this album. The image quality is a little dark, and compared to recent digital images, it looks inferior, but considering the age, the image quality is quite good. This is a moving video document that uses multi-camera for broadcasting to fully capture the two-and-a-half hour long stage performance performed by a large band. The recording time is 155 minutes in professional format with menu chapters. “Secret Story Tour”, Torwar Hall, Warsaw, Poland, 10th May 1993 Above The Treetops Facing West Rain River Batsanova Finding And Believing Phi Speaking? What’s more, the quality is far superior to that which was available on VHS, etc., and it has been converted directly to DVD from the master source that has been rebroadcast in recent years. As for the performance, as is well known, it is the simplest and strongest group composition throughout Metheny’s career, including L. Mays, and is made up of the recording members of the popular first album and that “American Garage”. Therefore, of course, the set list is mostly from these two albums, which is irresistible for fans. The live performance itself was held in a small clubhouse, and the members were all in a relaxed atmosphere, perhaps because they were close to the audience, and the atmosphere was bright and open, just like the album. This is a must-see video from a period full of momentum, in the midst of an upward trend, with their third album winning the Grammy Award the following year! The recording time is 144 minutes in professional format with menu chapters.
