Description

TALKING HEADS made a spectacular debut in 1977 with “TALKING HEADS: 77”. Introducing a soundboard album that will let you feel the fresh yet sharp live performance in your brain. What is engraved in this work is “Nashville performance on November 27, 1977”. This is a stereo soundboard recording. This is a recently released CD of the best masters broadcast by the local station “WKDF-FM”, and is a record of the lush period shortly after the release of his debut work. Let’s start by tracing its history back then to see how early it was. 1977, January 13th to February 10th: North America #1 (21 performances)《Jerry Harrison officially joins》 March 3rd to 12th/31st: North America #2 (7 performances) April 24th to June 6th: Europe #1 (33 performances) June 23rd to July 8th: North America #3 (6 performances)《July TALKING HEADS: 77” completed》・August 25th to September 1st: North America #4 (7 performances)《“TALKING HEADS: 77” released on September 16th》・September 16th to December 31st: North America #5 (66 performances)←★Here★ 1978 January 10th to February 5th: Europe #2 (26 performances) March 4th/May 1st to 20th: North America #6 (15 performances) June 6th to July 12th: Europe #3 (15 performances) [July 14th “MORE SONGS ABOUT BUILDINGS AND FOOD” released》・August 1st to December 31st: North America #7 (97 performances) ← *FM soundboard just 10 days after ANN ARBOR 1978 LIVE AT WCOZ 77 This is TALKING HEADS in 1977/1978. Jerry Harrison officially joined the group after guesting on “North America #1”. The four-person lineup started with “North America #2.” The Nashville performance of this work is one night of the stormy “North America #5” that began after the release of the debut work, and is the 48th performance. Speaking of 1977, the 2024 excavation album “LIVE AT WCOZ 77” is also fresh in my memory, but this work is only 10 days later (after 8 performances). It was also a night “right next door” so to speak. This work, which conveys such a show, is a truly vivid soundboard. In fact, it is a vintage sound board with very little tape shaking, and it is a little different from the type that can be called “completely official grade!”, but on the other hand, it is definitely the best master ever. The best thing about it is its transparency and vividness. There are no dubbing marks such as cloudiness or stiffness, and the outline of each note stands out clearly and vividly. At the beginning and between songs, the applause from the audience as if picked up by a microphone is mixed in, but the essential performance sound is very vivid and thick, as if it were directly connected to the mix table. The vocals, in particular, have such an incredible, ultra-realistic feel that you can even see the droplets of spittle thrown out by David Byrne. A debut set with delicious rare songs. The super realistic soundboard allows you to enjoy a fresh set that is unique to the debut period. Let’s organize its contents by comparing it with the excavation board “LIVE AT WCOZ 77″ mentioned above. Psycho Killer ’77 (5 songs) – New Feeling / Who Is It? / Psycho Killer / No Compassion (★★) / Pulled Up Others (5 songs – More Songs: Artists Only (★) / Stay Hungry / The Big Country / Thank You for Sending Me an Angel – Others: 1-2-3 Red Light (★★) 77”. In particular, the songs marked with “★★” are not on the traditional album “THE NAME OF THIS BAND IS TALKING HEADS”… and so on.The songs marked with “★” are the ones that are based on the songs from their debut album “TALKING HEADS: 77” and will lead to the next year’s masterpiece “MORE SONGS ABOUT BUILDINGS AND FOOD”. “Only”, “No Compassion”, and “1-2-3 Red Light” are all numbers that could not be heard on “LIVE AT WCOZ 77”.In particular, “No Compassion” and “1-2-3 Red Light” marked with “★★” are valuable songs that are not included in the traditional official live album “THE NAME OF THIS BAND IS TALKING HEADS”. It is a sound board album that captures the edgy charm of HEADS in its entirety in 1977, when the enthusiasm for their debut album was still not fading. A new masterpiece that can be enjoyed as a “outtake version” just 10 days after “77”. Stereo soundboard recording of “Nashville performance on November 27, 1977”. Best master broadcast on local station “WKDF-FM”. The clarity and vividness of this CD is excellent, and the outline of each note is clear. The performance sound is as vivid and thick as if it were directly connected to a mixer, and it has an ultra-realistic feel that you can even see the droplets of David Byrne’s saliva. AT WCOZ 77″ is a “sequel” and at the same time a new masterpiece that can be enjoyed as an “outtake edition”. crowd 09 No Compassion 10 1-2-3 Red Light 11 announcer & crowd 12 Pulled Up 13 announcer & crowd STEREO SOUNDBOARD RECORDING David Byrne – vocals, guitar Jerry Harrison – guitar, keyboards, vocals Tina Weymouth – bass Chris Frantz – drums
