The Salem performance of this work was the 38th concert of the large-scale leg “North America #1b” (39 performances) accompanying the release of the new work “BUILDING THE BRIDGE”. The new excavation series of the prestigious “KRW_CO”, which brings out soundboards that were not even known to exist one after another, has unearthed such a night. It is the eye of the typhoon in the collector world, carefully digitizing and making available decades of vast archives. Coincidentally, the same “OREGON STATE FAIR 1996” also produced the popular FOREIGNER version, but this work is the REO SPEEDWAGON version. They are sister works recorded consecutively on the exact same day. And the most important sound is truly wonderful. The loud cheers from the venue were far away, just like ripples coming and going. What occupies the foreground are only the extremely thick performance sounds and vocals. With the rawness that can only be expected from a sound board directly connected to a mix desk, each note is pushed out with full force. The guitar solo is especially amazing. Dave Amato’s fingertips stand out clearly, and if you close your eyes, it’s as if you can see his picking touch and even the level of his choking behind your eyelids. What is even more impressive is the skill of the mix, which is not typical of a direct-to-the-table system.
